The Fresh Market Manager is the ambassador of the All People’s Fresh Market for our members, volunteers, partners and staff. The market manager demonstrates excellent people skills, a passion for healthy food and fosters an environment of radical hospitality. With the HEAL Director, the market manager leads the team and is responsible for the market’s facility operation and program service goals. The market manager inspires healthy eating, increases access to fresh food and contributes to a clean, attractive and functional environment.

Position Duties:

• Supervise staff members, Work Experience Program (WEP) workers, Vantage Aging job seekers, and Impact workers. Ensuring proper documentation of hours of work. Submit time sheets in for part time employees to the office bi- weekly on Monday. Complete all other worker timesheets/paperwork according to partner expectations. Coordinate staff paid time off (PTO) requests with HEAL director.
• Maximize radical hospitality, productivity, and efficiency and of all market workers through excellent supervision and support. Ensure all volunteers and staff are delivering friendly, professional and timely service to all market members.
• Assign all staff, workers, and volunteers to specific duties daily at the market, ensuring all volunteers have a sense of purpose and all staff have clear roles.
• Work with HEAL Coordinator to schedule, train, communicate with, and retain volunteers.
• Follow food quality and safety procedures: Monitor temperature of freezer/coolers and reporting any equipment failures to the HEAL director. Ensure following of maintenance and sanitation procedures. Oversee sorting and disposal of food waste. Facilitate the stocking of produce in the Fresh Market and at the drive thru--ensuring proper storage and rotation for food safety.
• Manage all food deliveries to the market: Communicate with Mid-Ohio Food Collective about necessary changes (more food, less food, different food; Arrange and find staffing for deliveries to and from our local Kroger stores; Maintain relationships with Mid-Ohio and these stores and leverage these relationships to obtain the most food donations possible; Partner with various entities to welcome fresh food donations at the market. This includes the bread men, farmers markets, Mid-Ohio gardens, etc.
• Maintain health and safety precautions at the market: Keep current with safety recommendations of the CDC to address COVID-19 concerns; Safeguard that high touch spaces are sanitized and disinfected often.
• Create and post (in the market) the daily menu based on product amounts. Communicate menu to HEAL coordinator.
• Maintain overall cleanliness of, fresh market, storage container, delivery vehicle, and outside areas.
• Ensure adherence to all open, close, and upkeep procedures.
• Update market manual to reflect current market policies and procedures.
• Problem solve and create systems that address issues that come up daily.
• Communicate regularly with HEAL director regarding changes, problems, ideas and concerns regarding market operations.
• Welcome partners and encourage activities that inspire healthy eating and living within the market environment.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

• Typical motions include repetitive hand and arm movements, repetitive grasping, lifting, bending, reaching and exposure to extreme temperatures (coolers, freezer, outdoors, etc.)
• Excellent attendance and punctuality--physically present at the workplace/market on time.
• The ability, open availability, and willingness to work a flexible schedule (with advance notice) to meet the requirements of the store, including but not limited to weekend, day, evening, and overnight and holiday work.
• Responsible for moving or lifting an average of 10-50 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 60 pounds occasionally.
• Will be required to spend the majority of time on his/her feet and stand or walk without a break for up to 4 hours.

Essential Job Skills:

• Must have a minimum of 5-7 years of experience & 3 years in a leadership role.
• Experience working with people experiencing poverty and homelessness strongly preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of MS Office; Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Proven oral and written communication skills that allow for productive communication with coworkers, management, and guests.
• Proven ability to prioritize, follow through on deliverables, meet objectives and deadlines, take initiative and work independently

Pay: $45,000.00 per year
