Commercial Services Development Manager

The primary function of this position is to assist Community Credit Union of Floridain living out our Mission, “Always improve the financial well-being of our members and make a positive difference in our community.” A key element of excellent service is to develop a highly effective team of employees and develop each employee to their highest potential through coaching and leadership. All employees are responsible for ensuring that outstanding service is delivered to both internal and external members and they strive to increase an organization’s capabilities and reach in pursuit of its financial and other goals. The primary function of this role is to identify the financial needs of the business member or prospective member and recommend an appropriate credit union solution. This role is aligned with the credit union’s strategic member acquisition and core deposit goals. In addition, the Commercial Services Development Officer supports the Commercial Services area and the credit union by sourcing and developing member deposit relationships for a specific target market.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. Demonstrates enthusiastic support of corporate mission, core values, and long-term objectives by performing job duties within our bylaws, regulations, Board of Directors policies, established internal and external service standards, and our work procedures while possessing adequate product knowledge as measured by the annual product knowledge assessment.
  2. Delivers service to both internal and external members that are in alignment with the credit union’s Service Promises and meets all established service goals.
  3. Abides by CCU’s Service Promises when assisting a member or co-worker to ensure a timely response to the individual’s needs. Promotes teamwork, respects opinions, abilities, and contributions of others, and conveys a willingness to assist and cooperate with others for the benefit of the organization.
  4. Achieves established individual goals and adheres to all credit union standard operating policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations and guidelines.
  5. Engages in business development activities and is responsible for growing the business deposit portfolio through increased market penetration. The incumbent formulates strategies for developing existing markets and opening new markets; tracks and analyzes economic trends and provides recommendations for change to senior management; remains informed of competitive situations and of new, successful ideas and methods in marketing and public relations.
  6. Identifies prospective business members through various channels including internal and external referrals, cold-calling, and developing centers of influence. Represents the credit union in the community, by attending business and service functions to enhance market visibility and penetration. Attends marketing and networking events to drive business development.
  7. Initiates contacts via outbound calls or in person, schedules meetings and presentations, and identifies opportunities to attract new business members to the credit union. Tracks all inbound and outbound membership development activity by maintaining a contact management system that monitors the progress of all prospects from introduction to membership.
  8. Incumbent positions themselves and the credit union as a solution for business owners by analyzing the prospect’s current financial state and identifying opportunities. Effectively demonstrates the value added through credit union membership through a solution-based approach.
  9. Leads the treasury portfolio growth to meet treasury management objectives, strategic goals, and initiatives.
  10. Create and deliver professional presentations in written and oral form for the target market using the Microsoft suite of products.
  11. Assists new members with selecting accounts, products, and financial services offered by the credit union, ensuring an emphasis is placed on quality of service and member education. Cross-sells services in a professional and effective manner.
  12. Opens new membership/deposit accounts and services and connects applicable team members when a loan opportunity arises. Refers opportunities around digital and other service products to appropriate departments. Introduces the new members to the appropriate ongoing service channel, including Branch Manager, Member Service Lender, or Commercial Services team member. Completes due diligence, prepares all documents and processes according to policy and procedure to ensure compliance with regulations and Community Credit Union’s policies.
  13. Identifies opportunities to deepen relationships through introductions to appropriate lines of business and partners, including but not limited to merchant services, payroll, and lending. Incumbent scope may expand to include additional products and services as deemed desirable by the credit union.
  14. Contributes to the overall profitability of the credit union; implements costs controls, generates income, and adheres to and monitors expenses to budget.
  15. Maintains on-going communication with the immediate supervisor and others directly related, informing them of all pertinent problems, irregularities, new developments, changes, and other important information within their area of responsibility. Responds to all inquiries and requests in a timely and professional manner.
  16. Follows policy and procedures related to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP), and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) daily to ensure compliance with current regulations.

ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

When in the office, the environment for this position is a cubicle that is clean and comfortable.. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc. The incumbent is in a non-confined office-type setting in which the individual is free to move about at will and includes driving a vehicle as needed in the course of the incumbent’s duties. Frequent travel will be required using reliable personal transportation.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to spend time driving, presenting, writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 25 pounds), carrying, seeing (such as close, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and adjusted focus), sitting for long periods of time (up to 8 hours), pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling, and reaching.

The incumbent for this position must be able to operate routine office equipment including any or all of the following: computer, telephone, copy and fax machines, calculator, and camera equipment.

This is an outside sales/outbound contact role. Incumbent must have reliable transportation and be able to frequently and regularly travel locally with occasional travel outside Brevard County.

MENTAL DEMANDS

The incumbent in this position must be able to: create, read, and interpret documents or instruments, perform highly detailed work, assist or guide problem solving, resolve employee issues, perform mathematical functions, conduct meetings and presentations, prepare written communication, perform analytical reasoning, withstand stress, handle multiple, concurrent tasks and constant interruptions. Possess excellent member contact and verbal and written communication skills.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform the position in a satisfactory manner. Individual abilities may result in some deviation from these guidelines.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university; or five (5) to eight (8) or more years of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Work related experience may consist of direct involvement in banking or other financial services. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school, or finance-related curriculum, is required to be applicable to the financial industry. Outside financial services sales and commercial lending experience preferred.
  • Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly to members and employees.
  • Ability to plan and execute business development strategy on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to ensure sufficient activity to generate new business memberships and deposits to meet or exceed assigned goals.
  • Collaborate with team members and line of business partners to increase prospective member contacts and reach. Ability to position the credit union’s products and services to foster reciprocal referral relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Ability to formulate and present complex financial services solutions; use independent and discretionary judgment; organize information quickly and efficiently; research and analyze new and existing program concepts.
  • Excellent demonstrated organization, time management ability and delegation skills, reflecting ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a timely manner; the ability to provide leadership, supervision and training using positive supervisory techniques to ensure maximum productivity and be a strong collaborator; ability to work with minimal or no supervision while performing duties.
  • Ability to manage complex problems in nature requiring analysis of data to determine best solution using independent judgement, weighing outcomes of decision.
  • Experience using a contact management system to track activity and create presentations. Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications and computer skills with effective typing abilities to meet the production needs of the position.
  • Possesses a thorough knowledge of credit union policies, rates, and the documents and disclosures necessary to ensure compliance and consistency with current regulations. Advanced experience and knowledge of financial industry operational activities, terminology, products, and services; related state and federal compliance regulations and operational policies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge in all areas of treasury management solutions and operations preferred.
  • Must be comfortable working in a shared space, with constant noise, without the use of a private office.
  • A current Florida driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage are required.

The incumbent must be able to perform this position safely, without endangering the health or safety to individual or others.
