Job description

The Licensed Addictions Counselor provides group and individual chemical dependency programming services to clients in a modified therapeutic community setting.

Essential Functions:

1. Attends family treatment meetings and makes reports and recommendations as necessary.

2. Evaluates individual family members and the treatment family to determine level of chemical dependency programming necessary.

3. Assists family members in developing individualized programming plan.

4. Conducts group chemical dependency programming as required.

5. Conducts individual counseling as well as other classes relating to self-esteem, chemical dependency education, and all other components related to the WATCh Program.

6. Makes referrals to appropriate aftercare providers.

7. Attends program and WATCh staff meetings as necessary.

8. Documents all sessions, progress, and significant issues in appropriate client files.

9. Meets with the Treatment Supervisor of the WATCh Program weekly and provides oral and written reports as required.

10. Completes and maintains in a timely manner all documents, forms, and paperwork as determined by appropriate personnel and corporate policy, including, but not limited to the following:

Ø Treatment Plans;

Ø Progress Notes;

Ø Discharge Summaries;

Ø After-Care Plans

Ø Staffing Notes

11. Demonstrates knowledge & responsibility in performance of duties as prescribed by facility procedures. Has an understanding of the addiction process.

12. Applies the appropriate practices in Intake, Discharge, Contractor Reports, Individual Sessions, Risk Assessment, Motivational Interviewing, and Social Learning Theory

13. Understands and applies EBP in daily duties (reinforces, post monitoring, social learning theory and cognitive behavioral therapy.)

14. Works well under pressure and maintains self-control.

15. Motivates and works well with residents.

16. Receptive to change and new ideas.

17. Is receptive to clinical supervision and demonstrates an ability to apply and master clinical supervision recommendations.

Other Job Functions:

All other Duties as assigned by the Treatment Supervisor of the WATCh Program.

Required Annual Training:

Employees new to CCCS, Inc. are required to complete at least forty (40) hours of training relevant to their position during the first year of employment.

Licensed Additions Counselors are required to complete at least forty (40) hours of training during each year of employment. A minimum of thirty (30) hours must include training specific to the employment assignment.

Additional training hours may be required for disciplinary, emergency, or program-need reasons as determined by the Treatment Coordinator of the WATCh Program.

Working Conditions:

Working conditions are inside in a climate-controlled environment with occasional background noise. Occasional travel may be required.

Current openings are at the WATCh Program located on the Warm Springs, MT.

The Licensed Addictions Counselor works five (5), eight (8)-hour shifts per week. Shifts may include afternoons and evenings. Occasional weekend work may be required.

Considerable documentation and paperwork requirements exist. The Licensed Addictions Counselor must be able to organize and manage time effectively and keep records orderly and up to date.

Material and Equipment Used:

Computer; telephone; printer; fax machine; general office supplies.

Physical Activities Required to Perform Essential Functions:

Approximately 90% of time is spent seated while working at a desk or in meetings. Balance of time (approximately 10%) is spent standing or moving around working areas and outside locations. : Clear diction and acute hearing are necessary with the public, contacts, and co-workers.

Corrected vision close to 20/20 is necessary for effective use of computer screens.

Good manual dexterity for computer keyboard use and the ability to retrieve and work with appropriate paperwork, equipment, and supplies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

1. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

2. Strong organizational skills.

3. Ability to assess priorities and work well under pressure; excellent time-management, problem-solving and analytical skills.

4. Ability to work with contacts, the public, co-workers professionally and tactfully.

5. Professional and businesslike in appearance and demeanor.

Qualifications:

1. A Bachelors degree in an appropriate Behavioral Science field and at least one (1) year of experience working with adult offenders in a correctional facility and Montana State Licensure as an Addictions Counselor.

OR

2. At least three (3) years of experience working with adult offenders in a correctional facility and Montana State Licensure as an Addictions Counselor.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience working with adult offenders; experience working in a residential treatment facility and experienced working in a therapeutic community is preferred.
