Job Summary
The Division of Workforce Partnerships is looking for instructors to teach non-credit table games programs part-time at our Flanagan Campus in Lincoln, RI year-round. Courses are taught using competency-based learning outcomes and both day and evening instructor roles are available.
The instructor oversees the development and delivery of the table games dealer curriculum and educational programs for the Division of Workforce Partnerships.
The instructor communicates class content utilizing a variety of teaching methods so that learning occurs, skills are developed, and students are motivated to learn and achieve their educational and employment objectives.
Trainings are scheduled in response to employer partner demand and can include day, evening and/or weekend hours. The Division is looking to build a group of instructors to meet the need for table games training.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Follow and provide classroom and hands-on instruction in table games dealer curriculum.
  • Develop supplementary material for the table games dealer training, including training guides for other instructors.
  • Oversee the instruction of organized work plans, equipment use and assignments.
  • Measures student learning outcomes and progress.
  • Establishes goals and objectives for student success
  • Monitors student attendance and other documentation
  • Provide one-to-one mentoring and teaching of students.
  • Communicate class content utilizing a variety of teaching methods so that learning occurs, skills are developed, and students are motivated to learn and achieve their educational and employment objectives.
  • Use technology to enhance instruction, communicate effectively with students and colleagues and complete program record keeping and reporting requirements.
  • Work creatively in all classes taught to discourage student withdrawal and maintain satisfactory retention.
  • Works with program coordinator and Director of Industry Partnerships to meet program objectives
  • Understand the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and adhere to CCRI’s policies and procedures for responding to student requests for accommodations.
  • Keep detailed and organized records of students’ attendance, assessments, and progress, including a final evaluation.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • 5 Years as a table games dealer, 3 years in a leadership/supervisory role
  • Highly proficient in the use of technology, including Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, primarily), email, the internet for instruction and program purposes
  • Creativity and flexibility in the classroom is expected
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply relevant current education methodologies and techniques
  • Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues
  • Outstanding communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required
  • Work collaboratively with students and colleagues
Competencies
  • Experience teaching in adult education settings
  • Relevant teaching, teacher assisting or mentoring experience
  • Knowledge of successful strategies for classroom management
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of teaching and learning theory, life skills and college and career readiness curricula for adult populations
