OVERVIEW OF CCA
The Community College of Aurora (CCA) is a dynamic institution that is committed to serving its diverse student population through innovations in instruction and student support founded on principles of equity and inclusion. CCA is a public, two-year community college serving Aurora and east metro Denver and has been designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) by the U.S. Department of Education.
CCA enrolls 11,000 students annually, over 62% of whom are students of color, including nearly 32% Hispanic students. 65% of CCA students receive some type of financial aid, including 52% of whom receive Pell grants, and nearly two-thirds are first-generation college students. In addition to traditional degree and certificate programs, CCA offers non-credit professional development courses, customized training, and economic and workforce development resources to employer partners and individual professionals seeking to enhance the capacity and productivity of their workforce or individual knowledge and skills. POSITION SUMMARY
TheStudent Program Support Specialist for Student Success Communication & Marketing will provide strategic direction and oversight of the design process for visual communication projects/needs of the Division of Student Success at the Community College of Aurora. As a core member of the Division of Student Success leadership team, the Student Program Support Specialist will develop print, web, social media, and email-based marketing efforts that increase awareness of student services and promote student retention and completion. The Student Program Support Specialist is responsible for ensuring college and department materials follow college brand guidelines, and that print and digital products conform to journalistic, communication, and design best practices.
Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills
Communication Support
  • Lead the design and implementation of a communication plan for the Division of Student Success that promotes an increase and improvement of student retention and completion.
  • Create and manage social media posts that promote student services for departmental accounts affiliated with the Division of Student Success.
  • Take photos, create videos, and livestreams that align with the College's brand guidelines for social media and other promotional use.
  • Communicate and respond to comments, messages, and following requests from social media community and constituents.
  • Coordinate and plan promotional posts to fit in with social media trends and views.
  • Provide design and management support for the Division of Student Success website interfaces using modern developmental techniques, forward-thinking strategy, and the College's brand guidelines.
  • Seek to balance aesthetic design with robust usability, offering website visitors a better experience when finding information online.
  • Develop designs using HTML, CCS, and JavaScript that function in a web browser, ensure designs are properly translated with content that are accessible to students who utilize screen readers, braille displays, screen magnifiers, etc.
Marketing & Design
  • Serve as primary creator for Division of Student Success promotional materials, publications, website content, social media content, and advertising purposes.
  • Provide creative direction, brand oversight and strategic management of various projects, such as: Student Handbook, Student Newsletter, event flyers, programming promotion, and support service programs.
  • Design proof checks and press checks to ensure all project criteria is met.
  • Serve as a source of college communications by sharing promotional Division of Student Success information as well as pertinent news and information for the college community.
  • Disseminate e-newsletters, emails, and communication to CCA faculty, staff, campus partners, and constituents as requested by SSAO/ Dean of Student Success.
  • Maintain college brand guidelines, and evaluate opportunities to increase awareness and create brand recognition through communication among key constituents.
Minimum qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of related work experience
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Premiere Pro, InDesign, etc.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and user engagement of digital media in a professional setting
  • Experience with print, digital accessibility, composition, editing and equipment in both video production and photography.
  • Detail oriented with evidence of creativity and flexibility
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
  • Hold a valid driver's license to drive between campuses and external events, as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design or other art related field
  • Experience managing and developing social media content and platforms (i.e., Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, SnapChat, etc.)
  • Experience working with diverse and underrepresented students
  • Bilingual preferred
Supplemental information
Salary: $44,517.00. CCA offers an excellent benefit plan, including generous leave, holiday, and education benefits. Full time employees immediately upon hire earn 15 hours a month annual leave and 10 hours a month sick leave.
