General Summary: The Civic Engagement Coordinator develops College-wide non-partisan programs and activities focused on student voter education, voter registration, civic participation, and democratic engagement in coordination with Student Engagement. To that end, the coordinator assists the activities of the Campus Vote Project and All In Democracy Challenge initiative which includes working with Student Engagement and other institutional stakeholders as well as external partners such as the League of Women Voters.
Job Specifications:
**POSTING IS AVAILABLE TO ALL APPLICANTS, HOWEVER PER AFT CONTRACT ARTICLE XXVI COMPENSATION AND FRINGE BENEFITS C. 2, INTERNAL AFT WILL HAVE PRIORITY FOR NON-TEACHING ASSIGNMENTS**
Candidate must be a full-time faculty member teaching, preferably in the area of social sciences or humanities. Candidate should possess a working knowledge of Campus Vote Project and All In Democracy Challenge goals and activities.
Job Duties:
1. Co-chair College wide Civic Engagement committee with designated Student Engagement staff member.
2. Liaison with the Campus Vote Project and All In Democracy Challenge and other state and national initiatives
3. Prepare and submit the reports for designations such as "Voter-Friendly" campus, Democratic Engagement Plan, etc.
4. Encourage attendance and promote the Western PA Student Voter Summit
5. Coordinate activities and work of the Campus Vote Project Democracy Fellows - recruit students to serve as Democracy Fellows
6. With Student Engagement, coordinate voter registration and other voter related activities.
7. Maintain/edit/update the CCAC Civic Engagement and related web pages
8. Compose and distribute a Civic Engagement Newsletter each semester
9. Coordinate and report all democratic-engagement related activities college-wide and work with Student Engagement to promote and encourage participation
10. Create a college-wide reporting structure (form for Civic Engagement) with IT in order to better track Civic Engagement activities (helpful for the required reports)
11. Work with Institutional Effectiveness to better track data beyond the National Study of Learning, Voting and Engagement (NSLVE) report
12. Liaison with the academic division to reexamine "Culture, Society, and Citizenship" general education goals and embed civic and democratic engagement into the curriculum
