Community Charter School of Paterson is Hiring a Lead Social Worker Near Paterson, NJ

Lead Social Worker 

The position manages, monitors, and facilitates the work responsibilities of Social Workers and contracted school social workers and coordinates the assignments for school social worker intern(s). The position supports instructional programs by reviewing reports of team members, mentoring colleagues, and supporting professional accountability. Position performs specialized social work in an educational setting to enable students to achieve optimal learning. Position collects, interprets, and synthesizes information about a student’s social history, community environment, family dynamics, economic differences, and significant crises that influence academic and behavioral functioning. Position works cooperatively as an interdisciplinary team member to provide services and devise an appropriate service plan for referred students and their families.

Reporting Relationship

The Social Worker is a part of the Child Study Team (CST) and will report to the Student Support Supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities & Outcomes

Community Liaison

  • Knowledgeable of available community resources. 

  • Create pipelines for community service providers and monitor linkages.

  • Outreach and collaborate with outside providers to ensure services are aligned and are serving the whole child. 

  • Assist families in accessing available community resources by problem-solving through identified barriers. 

  • Manage the Family Assistance Fund (FAF) for the assigned campus in collaboration with the Child Study Team

Leadership and Programming

  • Participate and contribute in school-wide initiatives. 

  • Participate in CST and Campus Leadership Team - lending mental health insight and expertise. Facilitate weekly coaching of the school social worker team and social work interns.

  • Lead bi-weekly social work team meetings. Connect with the Child Study Team for best practice and region alignment. 

  • Conduct audits and counseling observations to support professional development and quality assurance. 

  • Drive social and emotional programming along with data collection (social work referrals, MTSS data, assessment outcomes) for progress monitoring.

  • Lead social-emotional learning conversations with grade teams, Leadership, and CST meetings. 

  • Implement and drive a mental health project of choice for the school year aimed at improving an existing mental health or social work system/program. 

Culture Leadership

  • Lead social-emotional learning and trauma-informed conversations. 

  • Develop school teams around m

  • Mental health and best practice classroom-based interventions. Complete classroom observations and topic-specific push-ins to model proactive responses and actions. 

  • Conduct surveys and collect feedback around topics of interest and facilitate professional development.

Qualifications 

  • Master’s degree

  • Valid New Jersey Educational Services Certificate 

  • Social Worker Endorsement

  • Exceptional leadership aptitude, with the ability to inspire students, staff, and personnel. thrives as part of a highly motivated, committed professional team.

  • Two years of supervisory experience in an educational urban and charter setting is preferred.

  • Spanish speaking is preferred but not a requirement
