Mental health agency now hiring certified peer support specialists in the Charlotte area.

 Must be ETHICAL, organized, detail oriented, and great with note submission.

Must be professional, excellent with helping the consumers meet their goals, great with care coordination, detail oriented with entering note documentation, and punctual attending supervision.

UNC Certified Peer Support Specialists.

SUMMARY: Provide support to individuals in the MH/SA adult population with mental illness. Peer Support Service is an individualized, recovery-focused service that allows individuals the opportunity to learn to manage their own recovery and advocacy process. Interventions of Peer Support staff serve to enhance the development of natural supports, as well as coping and self-management skills. Interventions of Peer Support staff may also provide supportive services to assist an individual in community re-entry following hospitalization.

North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialists must meet the following qualifications:
a) Self identify as an individual with the life experience of being diagnosed with a serious mental illness or substance use disorder which meets Federal Definitions
b) Are well established in their own recovery
c) Are currently in recovery and are stable,
d) Have a high school diploma or GED equivalency,
e) Are supervised by a Qualified Professional (QP),
f) Are not a family member of the individual who receives Peer Support services
g) Follow the NC Peer Support Certification Guidelines under BHRP (Behavioral Health Resource Plan, School of Social Work, UNC-Chapel Hill).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Assist with identifying interventions that emphasize the acquisition, development, expansion of rehabilitative skills needed to move forward in recovery.
  2. Provide input into the plan, modifications, and treatment teams, as needed
  3. Coordinate activities within the established individualized plan;
  4. Assist with referral linkage to other services and community resources
  5. Provide direct intervention, arrange, coordinate, and monitor services on behalf of the person's supported
  6. One-on-one intervention with individuals receiving services to develop independent skills, interpersonal, and coping skills
  7. Assist person receiving services with the development of skills for self-management and monitoring of symptoms.
  8. Minimize the negative effects of psychiatric symptoms or substance dependence that interfere with the person supported daily living and personal development
  9. Support the person in the development of various skill-building activities and clinical interventions specific to the person's goals and mental health diagnosis
  10. Complete documentation of services including a daily full service note that includes the name of the person supported, Medicaid identification number, record number, date of service, purpose of contact, describes the interventions, includes the time spent performing the interventions, effectiveness of the intervention, the signature and credentials of the staff providing the service.
  11. Work closely with Qualified Professionals and clinical/professional staff to maintain communication, provide feedback, and standardize procedures
  12. Facilitate relationships and serve as a link between the agency, parents, guardians, natural supports, other service providers, and the community
  13. Ensure that all documentation is accurate and reflective of services and completed on time as defined by the agency's policy and state guidelines
  14. Attend supervision meetings, complete supervision plan, and complete tasks as assigned by Supervisor
