GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: The Physical Therapist (PT) evaluates, examines, and utilizes exercises, rehabilitative procedures, soft tissue massage, mobilization, manipulations, and physical agents including, but not limited to mechanical devices, heat, cold, air, light, water, electricity, and sound in the diagnosis or treatment of patients. The PT has the responsibility of providing quality care in compliance with guidelines from the American Physical Therapy Association and the Executive Council of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Examiners. Specific duties include but are not limited to: evaluation of the patient and determination of appropriate therapies, progression of the treatment as the patient’s condition permits, documentation of care provided, supervision of Physical Therapist Assistants (PTA), Physical Therapy Receptionist/Aide (PTR-A), and participation in the quality assurance program. Modalities include but are not limited to the use of: therapeutic exercises, kinetic activities, gait training, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), traction, application of topical medication to open wounds, sharp debridement, provision of soft goods, inhibitive casting and splinting, phonophoresis, iontophoresis, and biofeedback systems. WORK HOURS: The normal Physical Therapy Clinic work week hours are 15-34 hours/week for part-time (as scheduled), and 35-40 hours/week for full-time positions (as scheduled). Occasional or variations may be authorized or required. EDUCATION AND TRAINING: · Graduate of a physical therapy program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association· Licensed to practice in the State of Texas · Two years of experience preferred but new graduates considered · Must maintain current First Aid/CPR certification BACKGROUND REQUIRMENTS: A personal vehicle, valid state driver’s license, vehicle insurance and a good driving record are required. Position requires travel and is authorized for mileage reimbursement.
