JOB SUMMARY:

The teacher assists in the establishment and maintenance of a safe and healthy learning environment. To assist in the planning of activities that support the social and emotional development of the children. To ensure that the families and children have access to all services that are offered and that they are impacted positively by the program. To assist in the maintenance of all licensing standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

1. Assist in developing and implementing classroom plans that are developmentally appropriate, meet the individual needs of the child, and stimulate social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth.

2. Assist in conducting appropriate screenings and assessments for every enrolled child within the allotted time frame.

3. Assist in the implementation of the curriculum which is supportive of the developmental milestones of children.

4. Assist in planning and implementing a learning environment that is based on early childhood education best practices including but not limited to: ECE Content Standards, Daily Schedule, Learning Centers and applicable curricula.

5. Incorporate Conscious Discipline® techniques in daily schedules and routine.

6. Conduct regular staffing meetings for child status review- referrals.

7. Assist in planning and implementing special events including but not limited to appropriate field trip experiences, end of year activities and transition to kindergarten visits.

8. Plan and implement literacy experiences for children and their families.

9. Monitor compliance with all rules and regulations and follow up as needed to establish and maintain compliance.

10. Assist in completion of Parent Child Registration Visit and Education Home visits in cooperation with the team.

11. Assist in establishing and maintaining complete child files.

12. Assist in establishing and maintaining child assessments including written observations of child’s well-being, portfolios, work samples and individual child goals.

13. Conduct daily health checks, refer as needed.

14. Establish and maintain communication with Family Service Specialist and parent regarding screening, assessment and referrals.

15. Assist in invoicing, collecting of co-pays, and development of payment plans for families.

16. Ability to sit/stand for a lengthy period of time, stoop, bend, and lift (up to 50 lbs.) while attending to the needs of the children.

17. Responsible for providing and maintaining a safe and effective classroom/center environment that ensures the safety and well-being of children.

18. Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.

19. Perform other job-related duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum qualifications include:

1. High school diploma, or equivalent. A combination of education and experience may be considered.

2. Must obtain a Child Development Associate (CDA) certification within one year of employment.

3. One year of experience of classroom experience, preferably with preschool aged children.

4. Must possess a valid State of Ohio driver’s license and remain insurable in accordance with the Agency’s vehicle insurance policy.

5. Average computer skills including being proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point), collaborations platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams), and knowledge of online databases and government websites.

6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; Experience in effectively customer service, able to represent the organization in a friendly, customer focused and professional manner.

7. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with an array of people from diverse backgrounds.

8. Ability to communicate effectively with staff and the general public using empathy, courtesy and good judgment to provide clear explanations of program policies and procedures.

9. Effectively work under pressure, ability to remain calm and deescalate tense situations if necessary.

10. Strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of initiatives concurrently, able to succeed in a changing environment with the ability to anticipate future needs.

11. Successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organizational, and problem-solving skills which support and enable sound decision making skills.

12. Professional and resourceful style; able to work independently and as a team player, take imitative, and management multiple tasks and projects at a time.

13. Personal qualities of integrity, humility, positive attitude, self-directed, and passionate about the mission of CAWM

14. Ability to operate standard office equipment including but not limited to personal computer, copy machine, fax machine, telephone, and printer.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

While performing the functions of this job, the employee is required to work in a primarily active work environment. These conditions include both indoor and outdoor environments such as classrooms, playgrounds, and offices. The employee may have exposure to unpredictable child and family behavior, contagious conditions. Occasional travel to agency sites and homes for quality assurance monitoring may be required. Must have vehicle for business use. Ability to travel overnight and occasionally use air transportation as applicable.

The employee has exposure to chemical compounds found in an office environment (e.g., toner, correction fluid, etc.), potentially emotionally distraught individuals and has exposure to possible injury due to unclean or unsanitary conditions.

Note: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this is considered sedentary work.
