We are a private non-profit committed to doing all we can in the fight against poverty. Our legacy goes back to the 1960's and we manage over 70 programs designed to help those who need it most.

CAPBM is looking for professional, friendly, and reliable Meals on Wheels Drivers who want to make a difference in the lives of older individuals, who are hungry and isolated.

As a driver, you will deliver mid-day meals to seniors to their homes. Drivers are needed for approximately 4 hours a day.

No experience is necessary. Must be flexible and able to work in a team environment. Requires own transportation and vehicle insurance.

You'll join a team of talented and passionate people who are motivated to make our community as strong and resilient as possible.

Hours : Monday - Friday, up to 20 hours per week.

POSITION SUMMARY :

Delivers daily meals and a wellness check to the homes of senior citizens and eligible adults in a friendly and timely manner.

PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITES :

  • Picks up meals from the program site and if requested, assists in meal packing.
  • Reports safety, environmental or social service needs of the participants to supervisor.
  • Cleans and maintains food delivery equipment as required.
  • Maintains sanitary environment in vehicle.
  • Maintains accurate route slips and communicates all changes to supervisor, verbally and in writing.
  • Distributes and collects donation envelopes for the program weekly, unless otherwise directed.
  • Accurately maintains up-to-date meal count.
  • Attends all scheduled training and monthly driver meetings.
  • Completes accurate timesheets and odometer sheets.
  • Adheres to all policies and protocols outlined in the Meals on Wheels Handbook, and in trainings, especially as they apply to personal safety and body mechanics, client safety, and food safety.

  • Be committed to the Agency's Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Express courtesy and willingness to assist others while providing positive, prompt, and quality assistance to all CAPBM stakeholders.
  • Maintain adequate knowledge of all CAPBM programs to make referrals to other CAPBM programs beneficial to the participant.
  • Maintain professional boundaries with all current, past, and prospective clients, and maintain the confidentiality of clients and staff per CAPBM policy and procedure.

Adhere strictly to the confidentiality of clients, co-workers, and internal business information.

  • Present a professional and positive image as a representative of CAPBM.
  • Follow established policies and procedures and comply with all safety requirements.
  • Communicate proactively with the supervisor regarding workflow, problems, suggestions, etc.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment; and attend team and staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Be punctual for scheduled work, use time appropriately, and complete work in a timely fashion with minimal errors.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Experience :

  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Reliable source of transportation to be used in fulfilling responsibilities of position; and maintain minimal insurance coverage per CAPBM's Personnel Policies & Procedures Handbook Insurance Requirements policy.
  • Must be dependable with courteous demeanor.
  • Ability to organize efficient route plan and work under time constraints of hot food delivery.
  • Ability to physically lift coolers containing meals weighing up to 50 pounds, climb stairs and wash coolers.

Education :

High school diploma or equivalency credential.

License / Certification :

  • Successful completion of criminal record and driving record checks.
  • Valid driver's license with access to reliable transportation for required travel.

The Community Action Program Belknap-Merrimack Counties, Inc. (CAPBMCI, CAPBM, CAP-BM, BMCAP) is a New Hampshire-based 501(c)(3) private, nonprofit organization. The agency was established in 1965 under the provisions of the Equal Opportunity Act of 1964. Under this Act, over twelve hundred Community Action Agencies (CAA) were established nationwide. The primary mission of the organization is to work with low-income families, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities to assist them in their efforts to become or remain financially and socially independent. The Agency accomplished this task... by providing a broad array of services that are locally defined, planned, and managed.
