Description

In 1967, the Marin County Board of Supervisors designated Community Action Marin (CAM) as the county’s official antipoverty agency, with a mandate to work to eliminate the causes and consequences of poverty in Marin County.

We are proud to carry that mandate forward today as the largest non-profit social services provider in the county and we are seeking top dedicated professionals to work in teaching positions with our Child Family Services (CFS).

We have multiple locations in beautiful San Rafael, Novato, and Marin City and various Teaching Opportunities – Preschool Teachers, Infant/Toddler Teachers, Associate Teachers, and Teacher’s Assistants. More details below and salaries are dependent on position and education level.

CAM’s Child Family Services is a year-round, early childhood education program serving children ages zero (0) through pre-kindergarten. Our teachers are engaged in a continuous cycle of observing, guiding, learning, and assessing children’s progress to ensure each child’s experience at CFS is rewarding and meaningful.

Teachers at CAM are able to lead the classroom and collaborate with other team members to create a joyful and stimulating environment for this specific age group.

Job duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Always provide supervision of children and create a safe environment
  • Joyfully and respectfully nurture the spirit and curiosity of each child
  • Facilitate age-appropriate, play-based curriculum and activities as a teaching team
  • Respectfully and professionally communicate and collaborate with all children, staff, and parents
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality
  • Support the teaching team and children as necessary to ensure proper ratios and maintain structure
  • Responsible for the health and safety of each child. Follow school emergency procedures and protocol

Details:

  • Preschool Teacher: $25.60 - $35.00 per hour
  • Infant/Toddler Teacher: $25.60 - $35.00 per hour
  • Associate Teacher: $20.10 - $22.15 per hour
  • Teacher’s Assistant $18.54 - $19.07 per hour

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday

Qualifications:

Preschool Teacher

Education (must have obtained one of the following)

  • BA/advanced degree in early childhood education & 24 units ECE/CD including core courses 16 GE units; or
  • BA advanced degree and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education, with experience teaching preschool-age children 24 units ECE/CD including core courses 16 GE units.
  • 175 days of 3 hours per day within 4 years of experience.
  • *AA degree with 3 sem. unit supervised field experience in an Early Childhood Education setting, with experience teaching preschool-age children; or
  • *BA degree and has been admitted into the Teach For America program, passed a rigorous early childhood content exam, such as the Praxis II, participated in a Teach For America summer training institute that includes teaching preschool children, and is receiving ongoing professional development and support from Teach For America's staff

Teacher Assistant

  • Child development associate credential (CDA) or a state-awarded certificate that meets or exceeds the requirements for a CDA credential.
  • Enrolled in a program leading to an associate or BA; or
  • Enrolled in a child development associate credential program to be completed within 2 years.
  • 6 units of Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development (CD)
  • 3 units in School-Age
  • No experience required
  • *Accredited Home Economics and Related Occupations (HERO) program
  • * Alternative credential/degree, waiver requirement.
