Responsibilities:

  • Primary Care Giving: Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children while building strong personal relationships.
  • Health and Safety: Prioritize vigilant supervision and create a safe environment through daily health checks and cleaning procedures.
  • Developmentally Appropriate Curriculum: Implement a curriculum that fosters the cognitive, physical, emotional, and social development of infants and toddlers.
  • Individualized Approach: Conduct developmental screenings, document results, and integrate findings into daily routines.
  • Positive Guidance: Employ positive guidance techniques to encourage positive behavior and create a nurturing environment.
  • Accepting Environment: Cultivate a warm, welcoming atmosphere that embraces diversity and supports children with disabilities.
  • Partnership with Parents: Develop strategies to connect home and school learning and regularly share information with parents.
  • Contribution and Collaboration: Act as a valuable team member through active participation, clear communication, and shared decision-making.
  • Professionalism: Adhere to regulations and policies, maintain positive relationships, safeguard confidentiality, and complete paperwork accurately and on time.

Qualifications


  • Education: Meet California Childcare Licensing requirements for infant/toddler teaching (Minimum Requirements - 24 units of Early Childhood Education, 16 General Education units, and 6 Early Childhood Education units specific to the Care and/or education of Infants and Toddlers).
  • Permit: Possession or eligibility for a California Child Development Permit at the Teacher level or higher with at least 6 units related to the care and/or education of infants/toddlers. or Current/Valid Infant Toddler CDA issued by the Council for Professional Development.
  • Experience: At least 6 months of experience in a licensed infant care center or comparable childcare program.
  • Skills: Strong communication skills, ability to work with diverse parents, bilingual English/Spanish preferred, proficient computer skills.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with Head Start Performance Standards is desirable.
  • Certifications: Pediatric First Aid and Infant/Child CPR certification or willingness to obtain within the first two weeks of employment.
