POSITION OVERVIEW:

Reports to the Program Director. The Student Support Coordinator is responsible for

implementation of the CIS Model at the assigned school.

Initial Implementation Role:

In April-June 2024, the Student Support Coordinator (SSC) will collaborate with the Program Director to conduct Needs Assessments (NA) and Support Plans (SP) for schools that are new to the CIS partnership (4 schools in Benton Harbor). CIS of Michigan will support with making initial connections to district staff and principals, and the SSC will be responsible for building and strengthening those relationships to aid in the NA and SP process.

The NA and SP process will involve regular travel to these school sites and communication with school- and district- level staff, students, families, and community members. It will also involve a detailed writeup of findings into the NA and SP templates, and entry into our proprietary data management system. Strong organization, communication, and writing skills are required. The SSC will receive training in how to conduct a CIS Needs Assessment and Support Plan. These Needs Assessments and Support Plans are due in June 2024.

Additionally, the Student Support Coordinator will work with the Program Director to design and implement Tier I supports April-September 2024.

Beyond September 2024, the Student Support Coordinator will be responsible for implementing the CIS Model at their assigned school (Benton Harbor High School).

QUALIFICATIONS:

● Highly recommended: Experience working in education programs or school settings

and/or experience working with children and adolescents

● Commitment to educational equity

● Adaptability as the landscape of CIS of Michigan continues to change and expand

● Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal skills

● Strong relationship-building skills

● Ability to work with other CIS staff and district/school staff, students, and families

Build and Maintain Effective Relationships:

● Develop good working relationships with school staff, parents, volunteers, and community partners

● Provide orientation and training for school staff, volunteers and community partners as needs are identified

● Complete an annual School Needs Assessment, implement a School Support Plan, and launch a School Support Team that includes appropriate school staff members,community partners, and service providers to support schoolwide goals and climate

● Organize family engagement and student activities in conjunction with the schooldistrict and community partners

● Collaborate within and beyond school sites to positively affect students’ success and re-engage students by building a lasting network of trust around them, providingrelationships with caring adults, and improving their mindsets about education

● Communicate with CIS of Michigan and school staff effectively using tools likeRestorative Practices

Coordinate Needed Services for Students and Families & Provide Case Management Services:

● Design, implement, and partner with community organizations in order to coordinate programs, services, and resources that will benefit prioritized students as well as the entire student population (Tier I, II and III) within the CIS Service Delivery Model

● Work in collaboration with the CISM Program Director to lead efforts to broker resources for the school community and connect resources to meet identified needs of case managed students

● Provide case management services to students who have multiple identified needs or challenges according to their Student Needs Assessments by providing Tier II and III supports. Support categories include: academics, basic needs, behavioral interventions, college and career readiness, physical health, mental health, and social and life skills.

● Provide ongoing monitoring in the areas of attendance, behavior, coursework, and social emotional learning to ensure student-level data is accurately being assessed for growth and support needs

● Advocate for access to educational and health resources (physical and mental health) through an equity lens

● Provide appropriate referrals to outside agencies for students and families and brokerin-school supports to eliminate access barriers

● Maintain secure case files on each student who is case managed

Collect, Report, and Analyze Data:

● Collect and enter data, and complete required reports by deadlines (monthly, quarterly and annually) utilizing the approved data management system (CISDM)

● Utilize available data to adjust School Support Plans as appropriate

● Evaluate the effectiveness of supports in achieving school and student individualized goals

● Create midyear and end-of-year reports for school and affiliate leadership

Implementation:

● Support the implementation of programming in new schools, which includes completion of Needs Assessments and Support Plans, as described above

● Provide initial Tier I supports to schools and students, as described above

WORKING CONDITIONS:

● Full-time, in-person presence in assigned school and other district sites as needed

● Must have access to reliable transportation

● Consistent attendance

● Ability to meet deadlines

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

● Mileage reimbursement at current IRS rate

● Employee cell phone reimbursement ($30/month)

● Employee Health Insurance covered at 100% and access to employee paid insurance for

dependants; stipend offered for medical coverage opt-out

● Access to employee paid vision, dental, and life insurance plans available

● Employer paid short-term disability and access to employee paid long-term disability

● 401k employer match up to 3.5%

● School holidays and the month of July off, plus one sick day a month

● Salary: $40,000
