Our mission is to build healthy, vibrant communities through economic development, affordable housing and innovative programming. The organization is focused on providing safe, quality affordable housing, increasing economic opportunities, and improving the quality of life of the populations that the organization serves. The organization headquarters is in Flint,MI with a satellite office in Detroit. We work throughout the State of Michigan and Indiana engaging the community in its community development efforts. through our four main programs – affordable housing, economic development, arts and culture outreach and environmental education. Primary Function:

The Maintenance and Facilities Manager performs a variety of work in the general maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities, equipment, and grounds.

  • Provides direction, establishes priorities, assigns tasks (to over hire and contractors), coordinates work projects and the work of other personnel (internal and external).
  • Performs general maintenance, repair of buildings, facilities, equipment and grounds.
  • Ensures that buildings and equipment are maintained in a safe, clean and orderly condition in accordance with all applicable regulations.
  • Maintains maintenance inventory records and files.
  • Prepares reports; monitors and prioritizes maintenance schedules to assure tasks are performed in a timely manner.
  • Cleans and repairs structures such as floors, toilets, sinks, walls, roofs, stairways, and carpets.
  • Contacts appropriate outside agencies as needed to schedule service/inspections by trained personnel.
  • Obtains required permits as appropriate.
  • Arranges for disposal of hazardous waste and chemicals.
  • Coordinates several projects simultaneously.
  • Forecasts issues and plans accordingly--preventative maintenance.
  • Adheres to safety practices and procedures.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with other staff and vendors.
  • Promotes and builds good working relationships with staff of Communities First, Inc. Embraces mission. Works with team; assists whenever and wherever needed/required.

Minimum Qualifications

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.   • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent education.
  • Possession of a valid Driver’s License.
  • Three or more years of experience.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products, emails, group messaging, data collection, internet and other database and spreadsheet programs.
