Description

Responsibilities: 

1. Attend all meetings/trainings required by Communicare, the Department of Mental Health, and other certification or grant agencies.
2. Maintain certification as a Peer Support Specialist.
3. Work collaboratively with other residential staff. 
4. Provide both individual and group peer support services for clients receiving services. 
5. Help new clients become oriented to the program, including the schedule and buildings. 
6. Transport clients as needed and/or accompany clients to outside appointments as needed.
7. Improve communication between clients receiving services and service providers.
8. Improve the team’s understanding of lived experience, recovery, and resilience through modeling personal responsibility, self-advocacy, and hopefulness. 
9. Maintain current documentation of services provided in the client’s electronic medical record.
10. Provide crisis support by listening to the client and collaborating with the treatment team
11. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications:

1. High school Diploma or equivalent.
2. Good oral and written communication skills.
3. Identify as a current or former mental health consumer with the ability to obtain a certification as a peer support specialist through the MS Dept. of Mental Health.
4. Valid Mississippi driver’s license, personal auto liability insurance, and insurable driving record (if required - discretionary).
5. Complete and maintain all required training from the agency and regulatory outside agencies. 
6. Pass a Communicare criminal background check.
