Multi-Dimensional Family Recovery Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for engagement with parents/caregivers presenting with substance abuse needs. Develops or supports the clients recovery plan. Assists the client in accessing ongoing treatment services. Develops rapport with client, their family, and facilitates referral to necessary services. Works with Substance Use Treatment provider to ensure long term recovery of parent/caregiver.

Accountable and responsible for the following results:

  • Deliver MDFR services in client homes and community locations.
  • Participate in DCF case consultation and service planning meetings.
  • Maintain ongoing and regular communication with referring DCF team.
  • Contribute to the substance use assessment of clients referred to program and makes recommendations on levels of care.
  • Conduct toxicology screens with assigned clients, including urinalysis, breathalyzer and hair testing.
  • Facilitate engagement and retention in substance use and mental health treatment for parents and caregivers.
  • Receive MDFR coaching and supervision through audio recordings, joint shadowing, and consultation, adhering to evidence-based practices.
  • Provide access to developmental, educational, and medical services for the children.
  • Enhance parents involvement in their children's well-being.
  • Promote emotional attachment and bonding between parents and their children.
  • Improve parenting skills including co-parenting and parental teamwork.
  • Reinforce skills and competencies parents learn in substance use or mental health counseling.
  • Help repair relationships between the parent(s) and other family members.
  • Increase involvement of other positive family members in the children's lives.
  • Improve parent and family communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborate with other department staff to ensure linkage to community resources and services.
  • Serve as liaison with community providers and direct service providers.
  • Document program activities in ECR (Electronic Client Record).
  • Enter client and program data into Provider Information Exchange (PIE).
  • Attends meetings in the community as representative of program and agency as assigned.
  • Attends training sessions, workshops, and seminars as requested by supervisor, or as needed for professional development, or as required for accreditation or licensing.
  • Perform any other department or agency related duties or special projects as directed.
  • Required to use own vehicle on company business, or to transport clients.
  • Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.

Qualifications


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree in psychology, social work, or closely related behavioral science required.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in the field of child welfare programs, foster care, or other social and human services.
  • Knowledge of substance use, and the impacts on children and youth; knowledge of child development and parenting practices.
  • Ability to work with populations at risk for child protective services involvement, mental health issues and substance use disorders.
  • Bilingual English-Spanish preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain MDFR certification within 12 months of hire and re-certify annually.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings/weekend hours.
  • Sensitivity to diverse cultures and language competencies.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must maintain an acceptable driving record and be insurable at a reasonable rate under the Organization’s auto insurance plan.
