The Engineering Technician position at the Department of Transportation Engineering District 2 is now open for applications. This program is designed to train individuals for highway design tasks over the course of one year. Your responsibilities will include supporting the creation of highway plans based on field survey notes. You will also assist in the drafting and detailing work involved in developing these plans, starting from initial sketches and progressing to final detailed working plans. This will involve preparing sections of plans for simpler highway projects such as resurfacing, restoration, lane widening, safety improvements, and intersection enhancements. Additionally, you will contribute to less complex calculations, help develop grade lines and compute gradients, calculate earthwork and material quantities, and plot roadway and channel templates on cross sections. Furthermore, you will assist in the preparation of plans for highway construction, including right-of-way maps, centerline drawings, profiles and topography, cross sections, drainage, and final construction plans.
