THE POSITION

The Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking Corrections Community Center Monitors whose primary purpose is to provide care, custody, control, monitoring, and supervision of the re-entrant population housed at a state-operated Community Corrections Center (CCC), and to assist other staff in facilitating and monitoring the changes necessary for the offender's successful completion of the program for re-entry back into the community. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Duties for this position include maintaining a daily activity log, observing re-entrant behavior, and conducting searches of common areas for contraband. In addition, you maintain and inventory re-entrant prescription medications, security equipment, tools, toxic chemicals and housekeeping supplies, maintain the sign-in and sign-out register for all re-entrants and visitors, and control re-entrant and visitor movement within the center.
Other duties include conducting new re-entrant orientation to the CCC which includes reviewing DOC and CCC policies, rules, and regulations; providing information on availability of public services; making room assignments; and assigning housekeeping duties.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40-hour work week
• Work hours: Community Corrections Centers are staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
• Salary:The beginning salary for this position is $38,348 annually (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Additional Requirements:

• Must be able to work in Wernersville, Pennsylvania.
• Ability to work different shifts or irregular scheduled hours.
• Ability to successfully complete 3 weeks of classroom training at the DOC Training Academy in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• Two (2) years of experience performing public safety or security work.(Examples of qualifying experience include, but are not limited to: public safety or security work involving protection of persons and/or property and maintaining required security through enforcement of rules, regulations and laws; public safety or security work in a correctional setting, juvenile or adult development/detention center, law enforcement entity, or military security experience).
• One (1) year of work experience providing direction/guidance to individuals. (Examples of qualifying work experience include, but are not limited to: performing as a lead worker or supervisor assigning and evaluating work tasks, providing informal counseling, or giving orders in the Military).

• You must pass a background investigation.
