THE POSITION

If you are a motivated individual who possesses strong clerical, organizational, and multi-tasking skills, the Department of Human Services (DHS) Union County Assistance Office (CAO) is looking for you! DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Clerical Supervisor 1, you will provide leadership, supervision and direction for the Union CAO clerical unit, as well as training and orientation to clerical staff as needed. You will provide administrative support to the Executive Director and assist with the implementation or modification of clerical operations. You will evaluate, monitor, and instruct subordinates to ensure accurate and efficient support to Income Maintenance Caseworker (IMCW) staff; assign work to subordinates in an equitable manner; plan and approve leave while maintaining adequate area coverage to ensure efficient workflow; and identify personnel problems and recommend the appropriate action.

Additionally, you will implement the office's procurement program by making purchases and approving payment; maintaining records and documentation; and responding to any audits of the account. You will also act as the telecommunications coordinator and purchase equipment when needed, maintain the communication systems, and call for repair when necessary.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (negotiable), Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year as a Clerical Assistant 2; or
  • One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Union County. If no eligible candidates who live within Union County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
