The mission of the VCU Police department is to provide a safe and secure learning, living and working environment for the students, faculty, staff, and visitors of Virginia Commonwealth University.

Summary:

To provide fingerprint services to the VCU community; perform data entry and maintenance of Community Policing Act data; review and verify incident reports for Clery Act reportable data.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Proficient knowledge of and experience with police-related automated systems.
  • Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with all levels within and outside the university.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage a variety of projects and to work independently.
  • Ability to fit into a team environment as characterized by shared accountabilities.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and ensure accuracy of reporting data to federal, state and university entities.
  • Graduate of college/university with major studies in areas of business, liberal arts or any related field, or the equivalent job experience and training.
  • Must have several years’ data entry experience.
  • Must have never been convicted of a felony, or crimes involving moral turpitude or domestic violence.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer experience in a police-related office environment and working effectively within a police environment.
  • Knowledge of Information Management Systems and Information Technology helpful.
