The L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University invites applications for a Part-time Program Coordinator in the Office of Student Success. The Part-time Program Coordinator position is responsible for the operational coordination of student services and programs for the Wilder School Office for Student Success. The Program Coordinator provides administrative coordination, data tracking, and actively recruits and fosters partnerships with employers, host agencies, and university partners. The Program Coordinator must have an ability to work collaboratively, independently, to multi-task, prioritize, and quickly adapt to change. The Program Coordinator must work with employees of various levels, students, and the general public in a culturally diverse work environment.

Job Duties:

  • Assist with coordination of the Wilder Graduate Scholar Fellowship (WGSF) program.
  • Manage and maintain communication with students and agency contacts.
  • Maintain up to date and accurate records to track and monitor the applicant process.
  • Develop innovative ideas for marketing materials and outreach efforts.
  • S creen student application packets for employers.
  • Participate in applicant interviews
  • Answer routine queries about programming and services.
  • Process student applications.
  • Assist with WGSF orientation and the on-boarding process for Wilder Fellows.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in college counseling, student personnel, or related graduate program, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Must be able to represent the office in a dependable, professional manner, demonstrating excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience working and coordinating graduate fellowship programs.
  • Knowledge of reception activities, event planning, and office support.
  • A professional demeanor with a positive, service-oriented attitude.
  • Sound judgment and discretion, particularly in handling sensitive information.
  • Excellent computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google applications, and standard office equipment and technology.
  • Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
  • Strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to details.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and follow internal protocols using excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Experience working in a college/university setting.
  • Ability to work in a diverse environment is required.
