About the Department:

The Schar School of Policy and Government provides undergraduate and graduate students the skills, knowledge, and analytic abilities to be leaders and managers in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors.

About the Position:

This instructional faculty position teaches a reduced term course load while leading the Jurisprudence Learning Community (JPLC). The JPLC brings together students with an interest in the law's impact on policy, public administration, and politics.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with the Assistant Director of Student Engagement to create an engaging schedule of workshops, discussion series, and field trips to support the professional development of JPLC undergraduates; implements active teaching strategies to foster community building within the classroom; recruits strong students to the Schar School; and establishes metrics by which to evaluate the quality and impact of programs; and
  • Teaches assigned course load, to include courses in the field of law and policy.

Required Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree in a related field;
  • Experience with research, practice, or policy in the legal field; and
  • Working knowledge of the theory and practice of instructional techniques and student learning. Ability to mentor students at the undergraduate level. Demonstrated ability to generate enthusiasm and a sense of identity for a nascent group or organization.
