Commonwealth of VA Careers is Hiring a Part-Time Assistant Technical Director (Wage Position) Near Blacksburg, VA
Job Description
Working with the faculty Technical Director, the Assistant Technical Director assists in the engineering of and construction of all scenic design and related elements for the School of Performing Arts theatre productions. Specific responsibilities of the position include:
• Assisting with the supervision of the scenery installation, technical rehearsals, performance issues, and strike for T&C season of productions.
• Aiding in the rigging, automation, lighting, and projections as needed.
• Supervising all student production labs.
• Ensuring proper scene shop and theatre installation safety measures and standards.
• Maintenance and upkeep of all scene shop equipment and supplies for productions and school year.
• Other duties as requested by the School Director and Faculty Chair, as necessary.
Required Qualifications
Demonstrated experience with a full range of shop equipment and tools. Ability to teach appropriate use and assist students with equipment, tools, and safety equipment. Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with a large and diverse faculty and student body. Performing arts production services experience.

Additional Information
Position has the following physical requirements: considerable periods of standing, climbing, stooping, bending, and ability to lift items of 25 pounds or more.
