Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Education seeks a Licensing Administrator to manage the Central Regional licensing field office, which is responsible for reducing risks to children in care facilities through the promotion and support of improved quality of care and enforcement of state licensing laws, regulations, and evaluation of standards of practices.
Specific duties include:
• Ensures programmatic compliance
• Reviews inspection reports completed by reporting staff
• Ensures all requests for new and renewal of licenses, certificates and exemptions are processed timely
• Recommends enforcement actions, and facilitates problem solving reviews, conferences, and other meetings with providers
• Identifying and evaluating trends that impact quality of care
• Incorporates and enforces department and OCCHS directives, documents, and guidance
• Represents the agency and OCCHS during interactions with providers, federal, state, and local agencies, and the community
• Providing supervision and administrative leadership to licensing and technical support staff
Minimum Qualifications
Selected candidate must have:
• Knowledge of developmental, social, emotional, health/medical needs of children served in regulated programs
• Skill in working effectively within difficult and hostile environments to resolve problems
• Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies, and procedures
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations, both orally and in writing, and work collaboratively and cooperatively with others
• Ability to operate basic office computer systems/programs, including Adobe Pro
• Knowledge of information and evidence collection and analysis techniques
• Previous experience as a supervisor
