- Assist students in understanding and applying photography techniques and concepts during open lab hours.
- Provide hands-on instruction in both digital and analog photography, including film processing, darkroom techniques, digital editing, and printing.
- Offer technical support to faculty and students, troubleshooting problems with photography equipment and software.
- Guide users in operating equipment safely and efficiently.
- Oversee the upkeep of photography equipment and facilities including regular maintenance of cameras, lenses, darkroom equipment, digital printers, and studio lighting setups.
- Identify and address any issues to ensure all equipment is in optimal working condition.
- Assist in managing the darkroom, digital lab, and lighting studio, ensuring they are organized, clean, and fully operational. Implement and enforce safety protocols to create a safe working environment for all users.
- Manage open lab hours, ensuring students have access to the facilities and guidance necessary to complete their projects.
- Monitor lab usage to facilitate a productive and respectful working environment.
- Provide assistance during photography classes as needed, including preparing materials, setting up equipment, and offering supplementary instruction to enhance learning outcomes.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of all photography supplies and equipment.
- Restock items as needed, ensuring the department is well-equipped for all teaching and learning activities.
- Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in both analog and digital photography processes and techniques.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on providing quality educational support to students.
- Experience in Photography or related discipline
- Experience working in a darkroom and familiarity with darkroom safety protocols.
- Experience in digital editing software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom) and digital printing techniques.
- Experience in working with faculty and students in a college setting
- Experience as an analog and digital darkroom technician.
