Job Duties

The Virginia Department of General Services/Office of Fleet Management Services (OFMS) is seeking an Equipment Repair Technician to work in our Richmond location service shop. This position will perform routine maintenance and general auto repair.

Minimum Qualifications

Working knowledge of mechanical systems, complex electronic control systems, diagnostic and repair techniques, modern diagnostic equipment and various tools to perform work. Demonstrated ability to read and document records. Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend complex technical repair manuals. Demonstrated ability to ensure equipment and tools and workplace are maintained to ensure safe and usable condition at all times and adhere to work safety policies. Skilled in troubleshooting and in using complex testing equipment to diagnose mechanical/electrical auto component malfunctions. Good computer, customer service, interpersonal and communication skills. Good organizational skills. This position requires lifting/pushing/pulling 20 to 50 pounds on a regular basis, along with frequent bending, stooping, crawling, reaching, and standing. Requires good manual hand dexterity and coordination. State inspection license and an auto A/C license is required (or capable of obtaining within six months). Experience providing excellent customer Service and working in a team environment. Experience performing routine preventative maintenance and general automotive repair on vehicles with a variety of scope and complexity.

Additional Considerations

ASE or other automotive certifications are preferred.
