Job Duties

The Southern Virginia Higher Education Center is currently seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Entrepreneurship Education Coordinator. The Southern Virginia Higher Education Center provides access to higher education, workforce training and programming, innovative industry services, and technologically advanced state-of-the-art facilities and learning labs that includes comprehensive fiscal management, operational and supportive services, community outreach and engagement, and extensive collaborations. These components work together to support the organization’s mission of advancing Southern Virginia’s economic potential through education, innovation, and collaboration. This position will advance entrepreneurship in southern Virginia in alignment with, and support of, the RISE Collaborative regional entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem building initiative. This position will be responsible for delivering entrepreneurship training in collaboration with our Work-Based Learning Coordinator to high school students and will also assist when needed to deliver entrepreneurship training to adult populations. This position will also assist with recruitment into the program as well as assist in tracking data and reporting numbers for the grant metrics. This is a restricted, grant funded position.

Minimum Qualifications

Working knowledge of entrepreneurship; Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive rapport and working relationships with diverse stakeholders; Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to develop relationships and work effectively with diverse stakeholders including students, teachers, administrators, the business community and program stakeholders; Demonstrated ability to effectively manage electronic and paper files/records; Proficiency using word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet applications; Ability to evaluate program and student performance and make adjustments as needed to result in positive outcomes; Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others and successful work in teams; Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and must be readily adaptable to change; Must be able to work independently, exercise sound judgment; Excellent time management skills including proven ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines. High school graduate or equivalent.

Additional Considerations

Prior teaching experience, credentials and/or related train-the-trainer/facilitation certification; Familiarity with industry-recognized credentials associated with various CTE courses/curriculum
