Job Duties

SWVMHI in Marion, VA is recruiting for Wage/Part-Time CNAs to join its talented and dedicated Nursing Services Team.
Position Hours: Variable (4 Hr. Shifts, 8 Hr. Shifts, or 12 Hr. Shifts Available for Preference)
Shift Differentials and Weekend/Holiday Supplements Available
Certified Nurse Aides assist nurses by:
* Providing quality care as part of an interdisciplinary team
* Maintaining accountability in a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment
* Creating healthy interpersonal interactions on adult acute Admissions Units, Geriatric Units,
and Extended Rehabilitation Service Units
* Observing and reporting feedback regarding interventions, treatments, behaviors, physical
condition, emotional well-being, and other situations
* Documenting and communicating
* Using specialized training for promoting mental wellness recovery
The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities and or Competencies required to successfully perform the work:
* Maintain CNA (Certified Nursing Aide) certification in good standing with the VA State Board of
Nursing
• Knowledge of basic treatment measures to promote mental health appropriate to the adult,
developmentally disabled or impaired, and/or geriatric populations
• Ability to work overtime in a staffing emergency
• Ability to work in a secure and locked environment with individuals who are experiencing
acute symptoms of mental illness and/or additional forensic/legal involvement
* Knowledge of personal care needs and activities of daily living.
• Ability to carry out responsibilities of the position
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively with others
• Ability to turn, bend and lift non-ambulatory patients without restrictions.
• Ability to provide direct patient care under supervision of licensed nursing staff.
• Ability to demonstrate competencies as defined on the C.N.A. competency assessment

Minimum Qualifications

• State Board License/Certification to practice as a Nursing Aide in the State of Virginia
• Driver’s license may be required.

Additional Considerations

• Experience in a psychiatric, healthcare facility, acute care, long-term care or correctional
setting is preferred

These positions are hourly/wage and not eligible for benefits. Hourly (wage) employees may not work more than 29 hours a week and are limited to working 1500 hours in a year.
