Commonwealth of VA Careers is Hiring an Assistant Manager - West End Near Blacksburg, VA

Job Description

Assist in the management under the direction of the unit operations manager and assistant director. Responsibilities include assisting with execution of menu plan, personnel plan, customer relations, and sales and register transactions, safety and sanitation, and the maintenance and security of the building and equipment. Assist in the supervision, counseling, training and development of employees. Ensures all policies and procedures are followed. Ensures a high level of customer service at all times in the dining facility. Create performance plans and complete performance evaluations for salaried direct reports.

Required Qualifications

• Working knowledge of commercial kitchen and food service operations.
• Supervision and management experience in a multiple item menu, food service establishment.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations, safe food handling practices, and food sanitation.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and public and excellent customer services skills.
• Previous experience operating a point of sale (POS) system and accurately exchanging credit and debit card tender.

Preferred Qualifications

• Food Service or Nutrition as area of educational study desired.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience using computers including Windows, Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Experience with automated payroll, and automated food inventory systems.
• ServSafe certification and HACCP certification desired.
