DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This is an internship in the PennDOT Communications Office. As a Press Office Intern, you will assist in researching, compiling, and preparing information releases to keep the public informed about our agency's mission and activities. In addition to print work, you will assist with digital media work, which includes transcribing videos, as well as recording content for audio, video, and graphic purposes. You will also be responsible for converting press releases into blog posts and associated social media content.Internship opportunities associated with this posting will be for Engineering District 4 which consists of Lackawanna, Luzerne, Pike, Susquehanna, Wayne, and Wyoming Counties.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Some positions may require travel.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Students who are interested in a PennDOT internship must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Must be a high school graduate or college student enrolled (or intending to enroll) on a full-time or part-time basis in a 2- or 4- year post-secondary education program for the fall semester.

    • Business Administration
    • Business Management
    • English
    • Public Relations
    • Marketing
  • Must be in good academic standing (as defined by a GPA of 2.0 or higher)
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Condition of Employment:

    • Upon verification of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License without incident, some positions may be authorized to operate Department vehicles as part of this job.

    Additional Requirements:

    • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
