By joining the District 1 Office as a Safety Coordinator in McCracken County, you will have the opportunity to coordinate the District safety and health program, administer the policies and procedures to all employees, and to have continued education in the safety of maintenance and construction activities.
Holders of the Safety Coordinator position will complete tasks such as:
  • Conduct inspections to ensure work sites are following all safety regulations and policies.
  • Investigate safety and accident violations.
  • Work with institutional staff to train and share knowledge on safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
Holders of this job will obtain the following skills:
  • Computer skills
  • Ability to give oral presentations
  • Knowledge of safety operations and inspections
Work is performed in the office and in the field. Will be exposed to risks inherent to construction sites.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of experience in safety operations or inspection, incident management, or emergency services.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, safety operations and/or inspection, incident management, or emergency services experience will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Working Conditions
Incumbent must be able to make oral presentations. Travel may be required.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
