For more information on what our cabinet has to offer, check out our YouTube page https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWSuC43XqlHchYeQ66tP7tg and our Careers page https://eec.ky.gov/Pages/careers.aspx By joining the Division of Abandoned Mine Lands/Eastern Branch/Design Section as a Project Design Coordinator I based in Franklin County, you will have the opportunity to design remedies to adverse impacts of pre-law coal mining in the eastern coal fields. The successful candidate will assess sites and determine the proper course of action to develop/design a remedy and to follow up on the construction of those designs. Holders of the Project Design Coordinator position will complete tasks such as:
Assess reported impacts of pre-law coal mining on the safety and environment
Design a remedy to address the adverse impacts under the supervision of a Professional Engineer
Utilize computer drafting software such as AutoCAD and Carlson software in the development of designs
Perform cost analysis for reclamation designs he/she proposes
Holders of this job will learn the following skills:
Computer drafting and modeling
Assess a site to determine cause and effect of the adverse impact
Desired candidates possess the following requisite skills or experience applicable to the position:
AutoCAD
Arcmap or Arcgis experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work in a team atmosphere
This position will require travel to the Eastern Coal Fields of Kentucky and to occasional Training seminars and classes. This position requires the ability to stand, stoop, bend, drive for an extended time, sit at a desk/computer, and the ability to traverse challenging terrain. Occasional overtime will be required as well as overnight stays, especially during training classes. EEC provides opportunities for development and upward movement. Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, architecture, landscape architecture or a related field.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of experience in site planning, landscape, facilities design, facilities construction, or a related field.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional experience in one of the above areas will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Working Conditions
Work is performed in the office and in the field. Will be exposed to risks inherent to construction sites.
