Description

Come join the Division of Epidemiology and Health Planning's Tuberculosis Program and make a difference in the health of Kentuckians. As a Nurse Program Administrator in the Tuberculosis Program, the main responsibilities are to provide consultation and guidance regarding the infectious disease, tuberculosis (TB). You will determine compliance by applying various laws, regulations, rules, and protocols that have been established by the state and federal government. These decisions may be made independently or in conjunction with interdisciplinary team members.
This position will assist in the planning, evaluation, and development of TB prevention and service strategies and guidelines; reviewing and updating statewide TB control policies and procedures; developing curriculum to provide training presentations to statewide healthcare workers providing TB services; and assist in monitoring local health department TB control programs.
Responsibilities and Duties:

• Provide consultation and guidance regarding tuberculosis control procedures
• Assist in the planning, evaluation, and development of TB prevention and control services
• Review and update statewide TB policies and procedures
• Develop curriculum, schedule, and participate in TB trainings
• Assist in monitoring and evaluating local health TB programs and services
• Keep current on the latest TB literature and advances

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Strong clinical nursing background, including assessment, care planning, and delivery of care.
• Basic knowledge of state and federal requirements.
• Critical thinking skills with the ability to gather and analyze data, draw conclusions, and use that information to make decisions.
• Intermediate computer skills in Windows and MS Office products to include use of a flash drive, data management using folders, import and export functions, as well as the ability to master new technology and complete work electronically.
• Ability to compose technical reports use proper grammar.
• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Organizational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to adapt to schedule changes and travel.
• Should be able to lift personal luggage and work materials/equipment (20-50 pounds).

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
