Description
The Kentucky Real Estate Authority (KREA) is looking for a qualified candidate to lead the authority in fulfilling its mission to protect the public by providing oversight of real estate professionals, including appraisers, auctioneers, home inspectors, and real estate sales associates and brokers. Four real property professional licensing boards are within KREA: the Kentucky Real Estate Commission, Kentucky Real Estate Appraisers Board, Kentucky Board of Home Inspectors, and the Board of Auctioneers. KREA employs administrative coordinators who carry out the day-to-day operations of each of the real property boards along with other professionals who work in Frankfort, Kentucky. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provides oversight of the real property boards.
Reviews and approves or disapproves any administrative regulation proposed by the real property boards prior to the promulgation of the administrative regulation.
Represents the department at legislative hearings, on specialized task forces, in meetings with other state and federal agencies, congressional representatives, local officials and the general public.
Ensures compliance with agency policies, federal and state laws and regulations.
Reviews and approves or disapproves the budgets and expenditures of the real property boards.
Hears and issues a final order regarding any decision of a real property board that would otherwise be subject to appeal.
Makes available for public inspection all decisions, opinions, and interpretations formulated or used by the executive director in discharging his or her functions.
Carries out the policy and program directives of the department.
Prepares annual reports on the executive director's activities.
Delegates any power to employees and contractors as needed.
Directs and oversees all activities and personnel.
Ensures efficient and effective use of state and federal funds.
Qualified candidates for this position will be a professional leader with the following qualifications:
At least ten (10) years of experience in one (1) of the professions under the jurisdiction of a real property board.
Experience in leadership
Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
