Description

If so, this position as BH/DID Program Manager of our Mental Health Prevention, Promotion and Preparedness Branch may be a good fit. Branch team members collaborate to build systemic supports that allow individuals and organizations to prepare for and respond to mental health crises and disasters.
We are seeking an energetic, motivated, and positive staff member for our BH/DID Program Manager to lead a dedicated, passionate team focused on suicide prevention, 988 implementation, problem gambling, crisis intervention, and disaster preparedness and response. The Division of Mental Health staff work daily to enhance and improve the quality of Mental Health programs and services across the state. We believe in our work and in each other. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Coordinates the work of staff and programs assigned to the Promotion, Prevention and Preparedness Branch.
  • Directs work assignments, projects, and job responsibilities to assigned staff.
  • Signs timesheets, completes performance reviews, and provides ongoing coaching and development to staff.
  • Monitors programs and projects assigned to branch, and assures appropriate action is taken in a timely manner.
  • Measures progress through data review and respective program performance indicators.
  • Provides technical assistance to branch staff, providers, community partners, and other government entities as needed.
  • Recommends policy goals, objectives, progress, and changes for benefit of program implementation; considers alternatives and develops presentations for department leadership.
  • Supports contract and budget development for program specific providers, monitors budget expenditures, and provides technical assistance to providers related to spending funds in compliance with funding requirements.
  • Attends meetings with other state agencies, community partners, and the public to advance branch programs.
  • Serves on internal and external workgroups and steering committees as needed.
  • Represents the department at regional and national meetings concerning branch programs, and may serve as a presenter at national forums and conferences in assigned program area.
  • Disaster response to provide crisis counseling (not therapeutic counseling) and outreach services to impacted communities and/or organizational support for supporting impacted communities may be required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Five years of professional experience in the administration or management of institutional activities, BHDID Central Office, community, or agency programs.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A master's degree in social work, sociology, psychology, nursing, health administration, or public or business administration will substitute for one year of the required experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Working Conditions
This position typically requires working in an institution or facility with individuals who may have behavioral health conditions, developmental disabilities, etc. or in an office setting within a behavioral health or intellectual disabilities program.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
