This demonstrator will lead to ARC, a power-plant scale fusion power generator system. SPARC includes high-temperature superconducting and copper magnets, thermal shields, cryogenic cooling systems, vacuum vessels, and plasma facing components, all subject to large operational loads (thermal, electromagnetic, etc.) and in a dense, tightly packaged power device. Critical to the success and performance of the device is the precise alignment during assembly of the magnet systems that control the heated plasma at the center of the device. As the Metrology Engineer your responsibility would be the strategic and operational planning, execution, supervision, and review of all precision alignment activities during assembly of the device to ensure that all critical systems are within allowable alignment limits for optimal SPARC plasma stability and performance. In addition, this role is responsible for the general metrological and alignment planning, and measurement activities, of all components within SPARC for spatial fit, dimensional conformance, and any other functional requirements of the systems as needed.
