SUMMARY : Responsible for developing and implementing Refugee Mental Health education and Support Services for refugees to ensure access to culturally and linguistically appropriate mental health care, understanding of follow up counseling and other care practices, and improved coordination with the care providers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Plans and prepares curriculum, syllabus, instructional materials, testing instrument and classroom space for both refugee adults and minors (high and middle school students).

Provides mental health resource information to refugees

Provides outreach and education to mental health service providers to ensure services are accessible and culturally appropriate.

Recruits and screen volunteers as needed

Researches local community resources and assist in developing a network of mental health providers.

Assists in facilitating the delivery of mental health services through the coordination between the resettlement office staff, the local community service board and the other service providers.

Completes mental health screenings and makes referrals as needed

Conducts follow-up with refugee clients as needed

Actively participate in Regional Refugee Mental Health Partnerships

Implements funding grant objectives.

Represents the agency in appropriate community forums in a professional manner

Demonstrates sensitivity to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics

Demonstrates strong interpersonal, decision-making, problem-solving, oral and written skills

Utilizes basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE : High School Diploma or equivalent required with three years of related experience. Ability to speak Dari, Pashto, Farsi (Persian), Hindi, Nepali, Swahili, Kirundi, Kinyarwandan, Urdu, Arabic, Spanish, French, or Ukrainian is strongly preferred.
