This position does not require on-call shifts.

The Outpatient GI Endoscopy Nurse is responsible for providing high quality, skilled nursing services to assist patients to achieve optimum health, functional health status and safe passage while receiving an invasive or interventional procedure during an episodic or series of visits. All patients have unique needs and experience these needs across wide ranges or continuums from health to illness. The more compromised patients are, the more severe or complex their needs. The dimensions of a nurse's practice are driven by the needs of a patient and family, which requires nurses to be proficient in multiple dimensions of nursing practice. Nurse competencies stem from patient needs and the characteristics of the nurse and patient synergies are when optimal patient outcomes can result. The Outpatient GI Endoscopy Nurse may need to demonstrate technical expertise in the following areas Periop, PACU, and procedural areas to support patient care during the episodic visit where interventions and procedures occur.

A goal of nursing is to utilize the nursing process to support a patient in achieving an optimal level of wellness as defined by the patient. Through skilled assessment and triage, education, collaboration and coordination of healthcare and community resources, the Outpatient GI Endoscopy Nurse assists patients to achieve optimum functional health status and safe passage throughout their procedural experience. The Outpatient GI Endoscopy Nurse assists patients/families, staff and systems to achieve high quality, evidence-based, cost-effective, and patient-focused outcomes.

Nursing care provided by nurses that function in the interventional/procedural areas reflects the nursing process through an integration of knowledge, skills, experience, and attitudes needed to meet the needs of patients and families.

Qualifications

Current Washington state licensure as an RNCPR certification is required every two yearsGraduation from an accredited school of nursing approved by the Washington State Board of NursingCompletion of related residency program with minimum 2 years of experience in area of care (OR, PACU)Prefer a minimum of 1 year experience in GI specialtyPrefer candidates with certification in related areas of care, such as OR, PACUStrong patient assessment skills, ability to work collaboratively in team setting, current working knowledge of electronic medical records.

Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
