Immediate Cook Opening in dining restaurant
JOB SUMMARY: Our cooks set up and stock food items and other necessary supplies. Our cooks prepare food by cutting, chopping, mixing, and preparing menu items per recipe, dietary, and food handling guidelines. Food is cooked by grilling, frying, sauteing, baking, and other cooking methods. Cooking Skills: Line cooks must possess basic cooking skills and understand cooking time to send meals out on time and together. They must also understand how to use a variety of food service equipment, including knives, pots, pans, ovens, and grills, fryers, food slides, and food processors. Line cooks must understand and have knowledge of safety, and food handling procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES AND THE EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS TO PERFORM IN THIS POSITION:
· Prepare, cook, and plate all orders submitted by our restaurant, bar and cigar lounge staff per menu specifics and plate presentation guidelines. Time multiple orders to ensure all food is hot and presentable and out in a timely period. Follow all food handlers’ laws and company policies on food preparation, storage, and cooking
· Teamwork is essential. You must have the ability to work in a busy kitchen without ego or drama and be able to communicate needs and issues effectively with a team. All restaurant staff must maintain professional courtesy to co-workers, management, and guests always.
· Must have a minimum of 2 years working in a high volume/full-service family style in dining restaurant as a cook and experience in cooking breakfast, lunch, and dinner for casual dining.
· Knowledge of liquid and solid weight measures and how to convert and apply these in cooking requirements
· Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT TO PERFORM IN THIS POSITION:
· Must have manual dexterity to use cooking utensils in preparation and presentation of food orders. This includes, but is not limited to the use of all types of knives, spatulas, tongs, whisks, spoons etc.
· Must be able to stand on feet during your entire shift, walking and carrying items short distances throughout entire shift, frequent turning/twisting at the torso and shoulder areas, turning and twisting at the wrist, finger manipulation, reaching above head, stooping, and bending, pulling/pushing at the waist and shoulder level.
· Able to frequently lift, carry pull and/or push 30-50 lbs. regularly during your entire shift, up to 65 pounds occasionally
· Must be able to read 12 font print
LICENSING OR OTHER CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: A current WA State Food Worker Card
Pay range for this position: starting at $17.50/hour -$18.00/per hour possible after review
