PROJECT PLANNER/SCHEDULER

JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION SUMMARY:

Assist the project managers and lead engineers put together complex multi-level project schedules, ensure harmonization, and follow-up throughout the project. Analyze the status of each phase of the project and provide elements to improve the situation and develop work around plans as-required. Responsible for the planning for all mechanical and electrical systems to ensure minimal impact to completion and aircraft delivery schedules to meet or exceed customer expectations and budget requirements.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Preparing the program schedule that incorporates all activities of the project with a special emphasis on the development phase of the project and communicates the information to all departments involved.
  • Maintaining the existing schedules and analyze the results to elaborate action plan to address the critical path in the schedule.
  • Ensuring that the approved action plans are properly executed and ensure the critical areas of the schedule are properly communicated to everybody.
  • Providing the project manager with all the required information to establish the current status of the program.
  • Running scenario analysis to determine the impact on the existing schedule of potential change orders.
  • Orders all parts and components excluding consumable raw material (i.e. raw metals, nuts, bolts, wire, rivets, inserts, etc.) due to the possibility of constant change of these materials.
  • Creates, tracks, and administers all related paperwork based on engineering drawing releases.
  • Works closely with Engineering to solve material, documentation, or other production issues.
  • Confers with supervisor and other personnel to assess progress and discuss needed changes.
  • Notify Back Shops of non-standard material.
  • Input task card information into Corridor based on the engineering drawing release and the work scope of the aircraft completion.
  • Track the status of each Task Card until completion.
  • Ensure each operation meets required completion dates according to project schedule.
  • Plans the process for manufacture, fabrication, assembly, erection or installation of parts, components, assemblies, etc.
  • Prepares defined work packages, including detail oriented instructions, drawings, references, etc. to initiate and control production work.
  • Monitors, analyzes and reports performance to schedule production and production support activities, utilizing information derived from material and production control systems.
  • Interfaces with Purchasing and Engineering to coordinate the ship out of vendor material.
  • Schedules, expedites and coordinates the delivery and movement of critical material, including material transfers and conditional material releases.
  • Coordinates the resolution of discrepancy reports, vendor service requests, etc.
  • Initiates replacement orders for lost, damaged or discrepant items.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, ETC:

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering preferred but not required.
  • 2-4 years related aviation planning or scheduling experience.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Effective problem solving skills.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must understand team dynamics and have the ability to work in a collaborative or independent environment.
  • Possess a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Possess exceptional decision making and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information gained in the course and scope of job.
  • Must have strong skills with Microsoft Project and Excel, Critical Path methodology, IMP/IMS Development and Program Life Cycle knowledge.
  • Proven schedule analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in a deadline driven environment while maintaining excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must have the ability to manage multiple tasks while being complete and thorough in the products and results being created.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment described here is representative of those required by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodations.

The office building where this position works is a typical office environment with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues in the immediate vicinity of the work station. The employee in this position will experience occasional outdoor exposure to heat, cold, and environmental elements when called upon to locate personnel working inside or outside of a Hangar.
