Job Description
The Director of Sales and Marketing is responsible for the daily sales efforts and the overall positioning of the hotel, brand communication, and the development of customers for the property including Rooms, Meetings, and Events. The DOSM is responsible for rental revenue, market performance, advertising, forecasting, and optimal business mix targets. In addition, the Director of Sales will be responsible for the development and implementation of the total sales effort of the hotel, including securing new accounts, maintaining existing accounts, and executing sales and marketing strategies to maximize the profitability of the hotel while maintaining customer satisfaction. Strategies will include negotiated corporate account rates, direct sales, market mix, marketing, and public relations. Candidates must have a dynamic leadership style, possessing excellent communication and decision-making skills. Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Sales & Marketing will be responsible to coordinate all Sales, Marketing, and Public Relations initiatives and be accountable for total hotel revenues. The Director of Sales & Marketing is also a key member of the Hotel’s Executive Committee, and this position also demands a leadership role in the local and regional business and tourism community to ensure the continued success of the Hotel.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for the overall positioning of the hotel, brand communication, and business development.
  • Implement and supervise the execution of sales and marketing plan, social media plan, advertising, market performance, and achieving revenue goals.
  • In unison with the General Manager, develop rates, group sales deployment strategies through a review of competitive data and demand analysis.
  • Reviews the STR report, TravelClick, competitive shopping reports and uses other resources to maintain an awareness of the hotel’s market position.
  • Collect market and competitive intelligence to assess and implement strategy and long-term goals and strategic vision.
  • Oversee day-to-day duties of prospecting accounts, account development, site inspections, and proper account management practices by the Sales Team.
  • Suggests innovative Sales and Marketing ideas and develops deployment strategies to continue to grow market share.
  • Implements the brand’s service strategy and applicable brand initiatives in all aspects of the sales process and focuses on building long-term, value-based customer relationships that enable achievement of the hotel's sales objectives.
  • Actively participate in other Sales duties after contracting; such as setting up group master accounts, group rates, and locally negotiated rates in the PMS system, assisting with reservations, some detailing of groups, group resumes/ BEOs, and client billing.
  • Direct and manage all sales training, yearly sales targets, sales quotas, the incentive plan, and all other corporate and hotel learning required to maintain the most effective sales professionals in the market
  • Develop and manage the Annual Sales and Marketing plan.
  • Develop and administer marketing campaigns in line with the Comfort brand messaging through Social, Digital, and Print media.
  • Oversee all Marketing, Social, and PR needs of the hotel, and ensuring they are aligned with the hotel social and commercial needs.
  • Identifies public relations opportunities and coordinates activities to augment the overall marketing communication strategy.
  • Representing and promoting the brand locally and internationally in various trade shows & business events as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
  • Minimum of three years hotel sales management experience required.
  • Bachelors Degree and/or Hotel Management Degree preferred.
  • Excellent understanding of all market segments including Leisure, Business, Transient, Group and OTA’s.
  • Excellent communications skills- interpersonal, written, and public/media relations.
  • Computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to understand and interpret financial data.
  • Must be results-oriented with the ability to be very flexible.
  • Positive attitude and supportive, team-based approach towards the attainment of the hotel's goals.
  • Ability to occasionally travel and work flexible hours and days when necessary.
