Director, RPO Workstream Strategy
The Director, RPO Workstream Strategy will be part of the bank's Remediation Program Office ("RPO") and report directly to the Director, RPO, who reports into the Chief Administrative Officer of Comerica. The bank's RPO team is responsible for the regulatory engagement execution, key regulatory submissions and responses, and regulatory remediation policy across all of the bank's regulators.
The Director, RPO Workstream Strategy is responsible for the most complex or high priority work streams within the RPO. An advanced/expert level of experience to ensure consistency across the bank's MR(I)A responses and successful execution of associated remediation plans on the most complex/critical areas of focus. Key responsibilities will include identifying and escalating key issues, consulting with Workstream Leads and MR(I)A owners in their remediation plan development and conducting effective review and challenge throughout the remediation lifecycle. Additional responsibilities include negotiating success criteria across all three lines of defense and multiple layers of senior leadership. This role may also be responsible for engaging with the regulators, as needed.
Position Responsibilities:
Execution of Remediation Plans
  • Work closely with the most critical, complex, and high-priority/high-visibility workstreams to identify and escalate issues, and identify key decisions related to remediation design, resourcing, etc.
  • Responsible for driving, recommending, consulting, and drafting remediation approach and planning.
  • Collaborate with workstream leads on plan development.
  • Provide consultative services to all levels of leadership, including MEC, throughout remediation efforts in order to ensure that Comerica achieves stated goals.
  • Drive for alignment across the three lines of defense for success criteria.
Effective Review and Challenge
  • Communicate and present across all levels of senior management, board, and external stakeholders regarding execution of remediation plans. Effectively and credibly challenge MEC members.
  • Review and challenge MRA artifacts & closure packages.
  • Provide detailed feedback for enhancement of plans.
  • Determine what artifacts are and should be and provide effective review & challenge of issue identification, MR(I)As and other workstream artifacts, and closure packages.
  • Provide support in reporting / narrative writing, as needed (e.g., regulatory response for MR(I)As).
Position Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited University
  • Master's degree preferred
  • 10 or more years of experience in regulatory expectations, regulatory supervision or regulatory relations, or in a role requiring risk management expertise, issue management
  • 5 years of experience in managing complex cross-company efforts- specific experience with managing major regulatory or legal submissions preferred
  • 5 years of experience in managing complex company-wide efforts
