Froehling & Robertson, Inc., (F&R) is looking to hire engineering technicians and inspectors to perform construction materials testing and inspection services on projects throughout the greater Fayetteville area. Positions are open for entry level candidates (no prior experience needed) as well as experienced individuals. These positions include:

  • Hourly pay ranging from $16.00 and up per hour based on experience.

Who we are looking for:

As a Engineering Technician and Construction Inspector, you will help ensure public safety by traveling to construction sites to observe on-going construction activities, and perform inspections and testing to verify the work is being performed in accordance with project plans and specifications. You will be working under the supervision and guidance of a seasoned Project Manager. With minimal paperwork involved, all inspections, observations and test data is input on a tablet in the field for immediate transmittal to our Project Managers for review. 

What you’ll be doing:

 Including but not limited to:

  • Performing field materials testing and inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, asphalt and other building materials
  • Preparing detailed field reports that provide test results and inspections/observations
  • Communicating with clients and contractors, and with our internal engineering and project management staff

 What you need to have:

  • A High School Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Prior construction or field testing experience is desired, but not required
  • Certification from ACI, NCDOT and/or ICC are a plus, but not required
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Must be able to work independently and within teams to achieve goals
  • Must be detail oriented 
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • A problem solver who can deal with a variety of variables at once
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical formulas and concepts to calculate quantities, estimate volumes, and inspect constructed work
  • Must be able to walk and stand continuously throughout the day
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 70 pounds on a regular basis
  • Must be willing to participate in and pass F&R’s pre-employment screening including a background investigation, drug screening and driving record
  • Requires a valid, clean driver’s license, as travel to job sites is required
  • Must continue to maintain a safe driving record and valid driver’s license to fulfill travel requirements of this position
