POSITION SUMMARY: Provides probationary supervision to criminal defendants as determined by the Tribal Court. Provide detailed reports of each probationer’s progress at all hearings. Coordinate required contacts with all of the probationers to occur one-on-one in the home, office, or school, and by phone. Responsible for maintaining accurate and confidential files and records of participants; provides for drug testing and conducts random testing; schedules community service and coordinates treatment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Performs all assigned duties relating to cases scheduled for appearance in court.
- Assists as needed in courtroom procedure during court sessions, may include giving testimony.
- Develop a supportive relationship with the probationer.
- Provide case management of persons that have been placed on probation, conditional release, etc.
- Maintain and update case files on all probationers in accordance with the Comanche Nation Criminal Code and file management standards.
- Prepare and deliver reports to the Court with recommendations for the treatment or offenders.
- Contact and work with public and private community agencies to secure their aid in attempting to solve probationer's problems.
- Maintain a continuing and ongoing relationship with agencies.
- Meet with law agencies on a regular basis to ensure offenders' compliance.
- Verify that all of the probationers' obligations to the court are met (community service, fines, court appearances, etc.)
- Ensure that probationers are held accountable for violations by filing probation violations or imposing sanctions within the probation officer's discretion pursuant to Tribal. State. and Federal Law.
- Update the Tribal Court on the progress of probationers' compliance with terms and conditions of their probation.
- Work with other programs in the Nation relating to the prevention and treatment of alcohol/substance abuse and probation matters.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, or decimals, for accounting purposes.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups, and while appearing in court, and in meeting with probationers, the Court, law enforcement, and other officials, persons, and entities involved in probation.

REPORTS TO: Will be reporting to the Chief of Police and Court Administrator. May possess supervisory responsibilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: May be required to walk long distances, stand for long intervals, siting for long intervals, lifting, or physically exerting him/herself in any other way regularly.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Majority or work will be in an office setting. Will be subject to all weather types, extreme heat and cold weather, traveling by vehicle for long hours, travel regularly in state and out or state.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Must possess a minimum of two (2) years of work experience in a related field.
- CLEET certification preferred but not mandatory.
- Must possess the knowledge and skills to interpret documents such as: legal interpretations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, police reports, and court documents.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to interpret and apply court orders and legal interpretations.
- Must possess the knowledge, skills and ability to effectively communicate before groups, while appearing in court, meeting with probationers, Court, law enforcement, other officials, persons, and entities involved in probation.
- Must have proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Must be proficient in office-related computer skills, including, but not limited to the use of the internet, and other pertinent resources.
- Must be willing to submit to and pass a Federal Background Investigation, employment will be contingent upon successful completion.
- Must possess a Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and be insurable under the Comanche Nation Motor
- Vehicle's Policy.
- Must be willing to submit to and pass pre-employment and random Drug Testing.
- Must not have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor crimes.
