Every day, we aim for success by focusing on people, doing the right thing, creating a diverse and inclusive workplace, and ensuring that our associates are safe.The Controls Supervisor will support the Controls Manager in leading a team of control technicians supporting material handling automation systems in our distribution centers. The role is responsible for troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and project-based efforts while also leading team members through this work.
It requires strong technical knowledge, broad knowledge of PLC hardware and logic (programable logic controllers). The role requires expert level knowledge supporting multiple custom pieces of automation with a focus on the software application, application communication to PLCs, PLC I/O field device support, application communication to host, database structure, and system redundancy.
*What you’ll do*:
* Lead a team of Controls technicians
* Review Business Brand Plans relative to distribution and fulfillment center requirements, asset replacement, and long-term growth strategies
* Support and lead efforts related to strategic fulfillment use, automation / technology lifecycle and capital expenditure plans
* Design, procure and implement material handling and process automation equipment (spare parts)
* Support the concept development and implementation of projects
* Support with project tracking and reporting for status and progress, issues, scheduling and finances
* Maintain close coordination and communication with building engineering, fulfillment operations, maintenance, IT (Information Technology) or any others as required related to ongoing projects
* Manage relationships and performance of external resources (suppliers, consultants, and contractors)
* Lead day to day activity of the Controls team i.e., timecards, PTO, and absence activities
* Manage team performance via defining personal objectives and evaluating individual performance
*What skills you’ll need:*
* College graduate (BS minimum preferred) in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Supply Chain Management or related discipline. MBA or graduate degree, a plus.
* Experience leading a teams and technical individual contributors that stimulates a sense of cooperation, ownership, and produces results
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* A minimum of 5 years of experience in work related to design, development and implementation of material handling and storage systems, facilities planning, distribution center operations and warehouse management systems
* Demonstrated experience in medium to large projects from inception through implementation, in the roles of strategic and detailed planner, developer, coordinator and executor. Project Management Institute membership and Project Management Professional certification a plus
* Understanding of warehousing and physical distribution processes. Experience with advanced material handling systems e.g., high-speed sortation, AS/RS, etc. a plus
* Experience with Warehouse Management System (WMS) & Warehouse Controls System (WCS) applications is a plus
* Experience with troubleshooting high and low voltage i.e. motors, drives and starters
* Experience performing and building preventative maintenance programs
* Working knowledge of various PLC platforms including AB/Rockwell and Siemens
