Objectives Serves as a behavior consultant to individuals, families, SSAs, and providers. Responsibilities include but are not limited to identifying, developing, implementing, and monitoring strategies for people with developmental disabilities.

Job Standards

* Bachelors degree in social work, counseling, education, health and human services, law enforcement, behavioral science, or a related field and two (2) years experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities. Masters degree in related area and four (4) years experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.

* Minimum of three (3) years paid experience developing and/or implementing behavioral support and / or risk reduction strategies or plans as required by OAC 5123-2-06.

* Must be able to obtain and maintain DODD Service and Support Administration Certification.

* Must possess a State of Ohio Driver's License and acceptable driving record as stipulated by the Boards insurance carrier.

Essential Functions

* Serve as entry point for all behavior support referrals.

* Coordinate and track all behavioral assessments.

* Assure that behavior assessments identify risk of harm and support strategies are implemented to reduce the risk of harm.

* Ensure all necessary behavior documentation and data is present as required by OAC 5123-2-06.

* Develop, implement, and monitor all facets of behavior support, both positive and restrictive, for individuals served.

* Ensure behavior supports are provided in the least restrictive manner possible while ensuring the health, safety, and dignity of risk for the person as referenced in ORC 5123-5-06.

* Provide training to DCBDD employees, designated provider staff, and parents on behavior strategies and/or restrictive measures.

* Support Service and Support Administrators and teams by providing technical assistance with behavior strategies and/or restrictive measures.

* Monitor restrictive measures in plans to ensure fading and elimination of restrictions.

* Present assessment and recommendations for restrictive measures to the Human Rights Committee (HRC).

* Serve as a non-voting member of HRC.

* Completes Restrictive Measures Notification process on DODD website.

* Review restrictive measures quarterly, submit semi-annual summary to the HRC, and provide annual analysis of all behavior support strategies to the HRC in accordance with OAC 5123-2-06.

* Ensures completion of annual assessment when plans contain restrictive measures.

* Provide case coverage and/or serve as the Service and Support Administrator for individuals with restrictive measures as needed.

* Completes Targeted Case Management notes in a timely manner.

* Maintains confidential records.

* Create, maintain, and provide annual Behavior Support training to DCBDD employees and HRC members.

* Develop and revise Behavior Support policy and procedures as needed in accordance with OAC 5123-2-06.

* Recruit new HRC members.

* Provide referral for contracted behavior support services if needed.

* Work closely with MUI Dept on cases where a risk of harm is occurring and with all prevention plans with restrictive measures.

* Attends meetings, seminars, and conferences, and other job-related training sessions.

* Schedule may need to be flexible based on needs of the agency and/ or person served.

* Performs other related duties as assigned.

* Adhere to all ORC, OAC, and DCBDD policies and procedures.
