Title: ESL TeacherPosition PurposeUnder the general supervision of the SpEd Director, to implement ESL program for students.Essential FunctionsEvaluates, instructs and improves English proficiency using proven, research based instructional practicesExperience administering the OELPAKnowledgeable of State and federal requirementsImplements programs of studyFosters an inclusive classroom climate conducive to learning that is consistent with both district and building goalsUtilizes instructional and behavioral management systems that increase student learningMonitors student progress toward mastery of instructional goals and objectivesCommunicates effectively within the educational community and with parents on a regular basisMeets professional responsibilitiesDemonstrates accurate and current knowledge in subject areaDifferentiates instruction to promote achievement for all studentsLeverages district curriculum maps and Common Instruction Map in instructional planningFollows established discipline proceduresEncourages students’ attendanceSets high positive expectations for the performance of all studentsImplements concepts of PBIS consistently and with fidelityPrepares and implements lesson plans to teach instructional objectivesFollows grading policies and procedures, and maintains accurate and complete student recordsFollows confidentiality procedures regarding students, parents/guardians, and fellow staff membersAdheres to established federal, state, District and Board laws, policies, rules, and regulationsAdditional DutiesPerforms other related tasks as assigned by the SpEd Director and other administrators as designated by the Superintendent.Note: The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. It is not meant to be all inclusive of every task or responsibility.EquipmentUses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.Travel RequirementsTravels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesOutstanding personal/interpersonal skills.Excellent organizational skills; ability to keep concise records.Sensitivity to the developmental stages of children; sensitivity to second language development/acquisition and cultural awareness.Openness towards parent communication.Experience with technology in facilitating instruction.Willingness to be flexible in terms of teaching assignment within the school setting.Ability to prepare comprehensive reports, speak and write effectively and work undera minimum of direction.Ability to elicit the cooperation of others and function as an effective team member.Ability to participate in the overall educational program and team planning,development of activities that include long range strategic goals and initiatives.Follows confidentiality procedures regarding students, parents/guardians, andfellow staff membersAdheres to established laws, policies, rules, and regulationsPerforms assigned duties and is punctual with reports, grades, records andreporting to workPhysical and Mental Demands, Work HazardsWorks in standard office and school building environments.Qualifications ProfileCertification/License:Valid Ohio teaching certificate or licenseTESOL EndorsementMotor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.Education:Bachelors from an accredited college or university in related field.Experience:Successful prior experience working as an ESL teacher, preferably in a K-12 educational setting Co-teaching experience strongly preferredFLSA Status: Exempt
