• Plans and implements daily, weekly, and monthly grounds maintenance schedules for the four city-owned cemeteries. 
• Coordinates funerals with funeral homes, family members, vault companies, and the cemetery crew; inspects all burial sites before and after funeral services to ensure that everything is in order and that there is no damage to the surrounding areas. 
• Assists with maintaining office records for all four cemeteries; does payroll and monthly reports; sends this information to the Revenue Division and the Clerk of Council office for billing.
• Transfers hand-written internment cards into the computer for the city Web site. 
• Inspects cemeteries for lawn maintenance and beautification purposes. 
• Interacts with the public on genealogy requests, grounds complaints, and lot locations.
• Operates lawn equipment in the maintenance of the grounds. Monitors budget expenses. 
• Weekend work is to be expected.
• Performs the duties of the Cemeteries Manager in his or her absence. 
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of burial needs and research skills.

• Skill in planning, organizing, and assigning work. 
• Skill in operating a computer and maintaining accurate records to prepare reports. 
• Skill in operating a backhoe, weed eater, and other lawn equipment.

Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the occupational field, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. This position is required to supervise state inmate labor. Employee must pass the Department of Corrections three-day certification within the time frame required by this department which is normally six months but may be altered.
