MAYOR'S SUMMER YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM (MSYEP) Positions for income-eligible youth ages 16-24 or 2024 High School Graduates$14.00 per hour * Six (6) Week Program * June 3 – July 19, 2024 The MYSEP provides work experience for young people by matching them up with summer jobs at local government agencies.As a participant, you will benefit from a source of income and work experience and gain skills for academic and career success. Accepted MSYEP participants will commit to 6 weeks of work from June 3, 2024 to July 19, 2024.Students will work 20 hours per week during the 6 week period. Students will be paid $14.00 per hour.The Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program places you in a variety of local government agencies including, Elections, Information Technology, Tax Assessor's Office, Public Safety, Columbus Convention & Trade Center, Human Resources, City Manager's Office, etc.Between the ages of 16 and 242024 high school graduates encouraged to applyA current resident of Muscogee CountyAuthorized to work in the United States All parts of the application must be filled out for it to be considered for employment. All applicants must have and utilize a viable email address for which Columbus Consolidated Government will send information regarding the Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program (MSYEP). This information will include necessary pre-employment information that you will need to provide
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Knowledge of standard business arithmetic.Skill in problem-solving and decision making.Skill in the provision of customer services.Skill in operating standard office equipment, computers, and related computer software programs.Skill in oral and written communication.Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, or crouching. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and distinguishes between shades of color.Balancing – maintain equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing, or crouching.Feeling – perceiving attributes of objects by touch with skin, fingertips.Grasping – applying pressure to object with fingers, palm.Handling – picking, holding, or working with whole hand.Hearing 1 – perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels, receive information.Hearing 2 – receive detailed information, make discrimination in sound.Kneeling – bending legs at knee to come to rest at knees.Lifting – raising objects from lower to higher position, moving objects side to side, using upper extremities, back.Manual Dexterity – picking, pinching, typing, working with fingers rather than hand.Pulling - use upper extremities to exert force, haul or tug.Pushing – use upper extremities to press against objects with force, or thrust forward, downward, outward.Reaching – extending hands or arms in any direction.Repetitive Motion – substantial movements of wrists, hands, fingers.Speaking – expressing ideas with spoken word, convey detailed, important instructions accurately, concisely.Stooping – bending body downward, forward at waist, with full motion of lower extremities and back.Talking 1- expressing ideas by spoken wordTalking 2 – shouting to be heard above ambient noise.Visual Acuity 1 - prepare, analyze data, transcribing, computer terminal, extensive reading.Visual Acuity 2 - color, depth perception, field of vision.Visual Acuity 3 - determine accuracy, neatness, observe facilities/structures.Visual Acuity 4 - operate motor vehicles/heavy equipment.Visual Acuity 5 -close acuity for inspection of small defects, machines, use measurement devices, or fabricate parts.Walking - on foot to accomplish tasks, long distances, or site to site.The work is typically performed in an office, library, or computer room where the employee may be exposed to noise.
